Three starters on defense already out for opening day, our starting running back is having an MRI on his knee and now this. F*ck me in the eye.

Again, I'm not gonna start tying the noose yet. Trent's been basically using Dr. Andrews as his primary care physician since high school, so it's not entirely out of the ordinary. I wouldn't mind seeing him rest this preseason regardless of the test results, just to be sure.

And @mortreport reports Trent Richardson is tentatively scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery Thursday to remove a "hang nail particle" of loose cartilage that is irritating the left knee but it is expected to allow him to return before the regular season opener.

Are the Browns still requiring that all players have surgery at the team location with a team doctor, and thus contracting team staph?

Actually, the media here seems to be getting their fill of talking about Colt McCoy ever since he kind of had a pissy fit about Brandon Weeden being named the starting Quarterback already.

Well, McCoy does kind of suck but he never had much of a chance to show anything either with their terrible WR core, their flash in the pan RB, etc. Not sure what Joss Weeden brings to the table either. The Browns are basically farked with no end in sight to their misery. Though, it is always cool when a team like that goes sleeper and steals a wild card spot. It's hard to hate the Browns. Who are you guys looking forward to drafting next year?

Whoever the top linebacker in next year's draft is, he's ours.

As for there being no end in sight, we've gone from rookie running backs hurting knees and missing the entire season to rookie running back hurting knee and missing 3-4 weeks.

We've gone from an owner doing his deceased dad a "favor" by running the team to an owner who has invested in winning and wants to be here.

We've gone from a QB who while "loveable" lacks arm strength which hurts him in key December football games, to a QB with arm strength as his top quality.

We've gone from a "turnstile" RT spot to a much better option.

We've gone from smallish, slow receivers who had trouble getting open to two physical freaks with hands the size of frisbees who excel at going up to get the ball.

And...

we've gone from a coach who was overwhelmed during his rookie season to bringing him help in an experienced WC offensive coordinator.

I'd say we are making progress in a bunch of areas...

Again, I hope your boys do well. Especially since it would mean knocking Pitt/Bal down a notch. I'm not really seeing the progress but to be fair, I'm on the East Coast and the Browns are never mentioned. Looking at the schedule, I think they could go anywhere from 3-13 to 7-9. Not the best outlook. Regardless, Beat the Giants!

The offense is going be improved greatly from last year. Again, we've got a legitimate starting running back now, a good, mature rookie QB and a physical freak at wideout. Our biggest issue this year will be the defense, particularly the linebacker corps. I'd say 5-11 is a realistic prediction this season.

Oh, and the last time we played the Giants coming off a NYG Super Bowl win, we whipped their asses. Let's hope for a repeat.

It's a scope, not a "major" operation and a short down time. Good thing for him this isn't week 1 and there's still a month to get him ready, roughly the recovery time for this surgery.

They still have season tickets at under 200 dollars with no PSL. I can't be sure though because every time I try to use their live chat, they have 4 people available yet not a single one even answers. The Browns even botch at selling season tickets.

Check the cheap seats on the site. It appears and disappears based on what part of the website you are on, but the far corners and family zones have the top rows on sale for 190 with no PSL. I don't think you can order them online anymore but maybe through the phone. I can't reach the online reps though to ask them for sure.

It might be sold out, but they hyped it in some of the early emails I got.

The Browns quietly claim that the WRs weren't as bad as people say. They would have us believe WRs were more open but McCoy just checked down over and over and refused to try marginally difficult throws. Whether that's true or not, it's clear they really wanted to upgrade over McCoy.

McCoy was the worst starter in the league last year. He has plenty of excuses to point to, but nothing excuses his terrible performances. He's going to have a nice career as a backup, but he's clearly not starter material. Oh well, that's what third round projects get you.

McCoy's rating my look better than those guys, but it's partly inflated by how cautious he was by checking down every play, which resulted in few INTs and plenty of garbage time yardage after his cautious approach of dinking and dunking resulted in three quarters of punts to put them down by double digits late in games.

McCoy was 59th in average yards per attempt. Among starters, he was dead last at 32d.

I'm actually jealous of my dad because he got to witness and enjoy some Browns championship teams. He was a teenager in the 50's, and loves to brag that he won money betting on the Browns to beat the Colts in '64.

Me--? My fondest memories are the Kardiac Kids years and the Kosar/Dawg Pound years. Fun times for the most part. But, of course, the horse-toothed jackass below made it his life's mission to ruin my childhood...

Where are you getting those numbers from? Per the NFL's website McCoy was ranked 32nd in yards per attempt for the 2011 season, not 59th. Their list only has 33 entries, the dead last being Blaine Gabbert, not McCoy.

And really, you can't go by just one statistic and use it to compare QBs. Going by just yards per attempt means Carson Palmer is tied for fourth place with Eli Manning. Did Carson Palmer really have a better season than Drew Brees or Ben Roethlisberger?

2012-08-09 08:24:56 AM
You have to click "all" to expand the list beyond starters.

I know picking one stat does not tell the whole story, but it does support what the Browns are feeding to the media about McCoy being too timid.
