I know a place where not two decades ago kids that trespassed knew, if they were seen, they would be shot at with 'salt load'.

A friend of mine had pockmarks covering the back of his leg on his calf which were a momento from a watermelon run. The rock salt they put in those cartridges were buckshot sized. I still can't imagine how that must have stung.

All we are saying, is give peas a chance.

:-( saw them for the first last time they were in MKE, just not as good with out her or Jason. Last two studio albums were weak and should have been a double album

It took me awhile to really enjoy Go-Go Boots, but I seem to do that with any of their new releases. At some point I just break down and just keep listening to them and they become part of the catalog for me. But I generally shun them for the first couple months or only find one or two I really enjoy.

Didn't Mythbusters (as well as Box O' Truth, which is more scientific) show that rocksalt wouldn't do what it was reputed to do, i.e. sting without killing? I expect peas would be the same thing.

Basically at more than a few feet, it does nothing. Light projectiles slow down far too fast.

At 4ft, it could be lethal. At ~12ft, it might have the described effect of breaking the skin and stinging like heck, but it looks like an impractically tight window between doing nothing and simply killing them outright, and that window would move a lot depending on what type of clothing they're wearing. It would never sting someone from across a yard.

My uncle Donald was shot in the back when he was 12 by a shotgun of the same caliber, both barrels, with rock salt. Left scars on his back from neck to crack that looked like acne pits. Itched like hell when the skin got hot till the day he died at 80+. All for stealing watermelons :)
