And this is a problem because....? oh, right. fox news.

2012-08-08 12:31:39 PM
"Emails from the General Services Administration show that the federal agency, acting on orders from the White House, told federal law enforcement authorities in Portland, Ore., not to enforce curfews on protesters camped out on federal property."

Well, whoop-tee-fnckin'-doo.

Truly history's greatest monster

2012-08-08 12:40:55 PM
He also ordered the ATF to tear the tags off of any mattress in any hotel they stay at. He's like Pol Pot with a charming smile.

2012-08-08 12:41:19 PM
"GSA controls the permits and has asked FPS [Federal Protective Services] not to enforce the curfew at park and the prohibition on overnight encampments...Our FPS Commander in Portland says they are standing down and following GSA's request to only intervene if there is a threat to public safety," she added in the email.

Truly history's greatest monster...

Wait, you guys already posted this. Get out of my head.

2012-08-08 12:41:31 PM
Not familiar with FPS -- are they actually "law enforcement" or just security guards?

How dare Obama let poor people have their voices heard?

2012-08-08 12:43:11 PM
Obama watched a Tivo of the 2005 World Series that was recorded without express written consent of the Commissioner.

That's because, believe it or not, the First Amendment does apply to non-Republicans. Shocking, I know.

Obama also ordered us to remove the foreskin of every male child

Obama administration told law enforcement authorities to go easy on Occupy Wall Street protesters, even though they were violating local laws

And this is what will get Authoritarians up in a tizzy, and it also shows why Authoritarians are idiots.

If they enforced the curfew at park and the prohibition on overnight encampments, it would have led to ugly arrests, and that would lead to more news coverage, and that would lead to more exposure and awareness of the Occupy movement. Protesters' goal is to raise awareness. Enforcing the law plays into their hands - it proverbially throws them in the brier patch.

A landowner is not required to enforce trespassing laws if they don't mind the trespassers.

2012-08-08 12:46:53 PM
... right up until the feds sat back and allowed the locals to beat the shiat out of protestors and journalists to shut down the protests. You can criticize a lot in the police reaction to the Occupy movement, but being overly lenient wasn't one of the problems.

2012-08-08 12:46:58 PM
Did almost everyone forget the almost simultaneous, concerted effort to disband the Occupy protests in several cities?

2012-08-08 12:47:01 PM
Can someone tell me how this is Obama's ad?

It didn't say it was approved by him, it didn't mention him by name, nor did it say anything about being an Obama Pac.

Sounds to me as if it was a PAC paid for ad by people who don't want Romney to win, nothing more.

Occupy Portland saw some of the more violent protests of the national movement. A week before the email exchange, 25 demonstrators were arrested after they refused to leave Jamison Square in the Pearl District after the park was closed at midnight.

In other news, breaking curfew has been elevated to a violent federal felony which warrants a response by the SWAT team.

Where is the "this is an outrage" guy?

2012-08-08 12:48:40 PM
and we have communicated with the WH [White House], which has afforded us the discretion to fashion our approach to Occupy issues

Yea, Obama really brought the hammer down on law enforcement.

2012-08-08 12:49:36 PM
The Obama administration told law enforcement authorities to go easy on Occupy Wall Street protesters, even though they were violating local laws, according to documents obtained by watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Emails from the General Services Administration show that the federal agency, acting on orders from the White House, told federal law enforcement authorities in Portland, Ore., not to enforce curfews on protesters camped out on federal property.

I was unaware that a local law could restrict access to federal property.

2012-08-08 12:51:34 PM
GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner Robert Peck replied: "Caitlin: yes, that is our position; it's been vetted with our administrator and Michael Robertson, our chief of staff, and we have communicated with the WH [White House], which has afforded us the discretion to fashion our approach to Occupy issues...The arrests last week were carried out despite our request that the protesters be allowed to remain and to camp overnight..."

So, the GSA makes sure the White House knows what's going on, the White House tells them to handle it at their discretion and that gets translated into "ordered" by Fox news.

Hey, you gotta remember - it was the 80's. Supporting central american narcoterrorists was all the rage. Romney was just retroactive polishing his Reaganeque street cred.

Romney retroactively laundered the money. Now, it came from a venture capitalist firm based out of a PO Box in the Caymans.

So the real article headline should be

Given that the federal government did jack shiat to the Tea Partiers, even as they brought guns outside a presidential speech, I'd say Fox needs to STFU and GBTW.

Obama once drove 36mph in a 35 zone.

This means that John Franco is automagically President and Obama has to do a timed lap of Spa in a G-Wiz while wearing a sombrero.

Has anyone mentioned that Obama is truly history's greatest monster?

Is this another one of those things where I'm supposed to get outraged because a bunch of people who are in bed by 8:30 anyway and only gathered together at the behest of large media organizations and wealthy private donors had to pay for permits when they "protested" on public land?

2012-08-08 01:06:06 PM
OMG, Obama personally allowed these people to...

...violate curfew and 'no overnight camping regulations'.

Seriously? Didn't SOMEone at Fox News say 'Hey guys, this is getting stupid. Let's focus on some REAL issues for a change.'? Oh wait, it's Fox. Never mind...

Unless you have new information that what they did was actually illegal, and not just immoral, bad, corrupt, debauched, depraved, dishonest, indecent, iniquitous, nefarious, obscene, profligate, reprobate, shameless, sinful, unethical, unprincipled, unscrupulous, vicious, vile, villainous, wicked, wrong; there is not much that can be done to punish them now, because of the prohibition on bills of attainder.

Now, a LOT more can be done to mitigate and try and prevent something like this from happening again, but I have more chance of arriving home and finding my wife in bed with Mila Kunis and Emma Stone waiting for me to join them.

Also, is it just THIS?

Emails from the General Services Administration show that the federal agency, acting on orders from the White House, told federal law enforcement authorities in Portland, Ore., not to enforce curfews on protesters camped out on federal property.

That's it? They allowed these people on FEDERAL property to stay longer? What a crock of shiat. And now Judicial Watch is calling this a "scandal:. We already knew that in some cases the cities were relaxing these regs on overnight camping. I hope they consider those instances to be as much of a "scandal".

I thought this was going to be over some serious infraction like spitting on the sidewalk or carrying an ice cream cone in your back pocket.
