-9F with -19F windchill is not as bad as I would've expected for Antarctica midwinter. Although, I suppose they are not in the middle of the continent at that base.

Eh... McMurdo. Not as big a deal as Amundsen-Scott. We had to evac a couple of folk over my time working in the USAP from Palmer Station by ship a few times... that must've sucked bad for them. Having whatever serious medical issues and enduring 3 days in the Drake Passage to get back to Chile. No thanks.

"I have an idea! Let's go to the most remote place in the world! And...wait...let's do it when it's dark down there 24 hours a day! Yeah! And...let's forget about all the horror movies we ever saw about people trapped in the dark with death-dealing creatures and no way of escape! Only for real! Yeah!"

I'll call The Asylum.

We saw the forecast for the runway and thought they were perhaps starting winfly very early, then we heard about this. Still haven't heard what is going on and haven't heard what the medical issue is.

She could not say whether the patient became sick or injured while at the facility, but she noted that there is "a very rigorous health screening process that you must go through" to be at the facility. "I would assume that the person did not go with any existing condition that would have posed a problem."

Why did you construct those sentences to imply that the nature of the emergency is some sort of mystery and their spokesperson is just making wild guesses? They know exactly why they're attempting such a risky extraction. Just state that the spokesperson was unable to disclose specific details of the emergency due to privacy concerns.
