He cliams he had never even taken it before, yet he had it floatinga round in his pocket and got a dui. Was it a large dose? If an 80mg dose fell out of his pocket and a little kid or even an adult ate it, the they could easily drop dead.

Not saying he deserved to lose his career over it, but larger doses are can be deadly and you really shouldn't be casually cruising around with lethal chems in your friggn pocket - especially if you haven't been signed off on the importance of keeping tight control of the doses.

Actually, no. I do not understand the appeal. All I know is what they did to me, hence my statement that I really don't understand the whole appeal to oxycontin.

It feels REALLY good to other people... I don't get the same severe effects you do, but I do get a lot of itching anytime I use any sort of pain killer... so I actually just use them for pain. I don't think I could ever get addicted to them because of the itching... I'd lose all my skin...

Pretty clear you had an allergic reaction to it and thus the itching. You should have stopped taking it and popped a benadryl. That is not the high other people feel.

I'm with you, actually, with any pain pill. They all do the same thing to me: make me itchy and puts me in an EXTREMELY foul mood.

I deal with the pain now and, very rarely, I'll take a few ibuprofen.

Plus the other medicine helps, too...(don't want to turn it into THAT thread, though.)

Let me add a big sarcastic BOO HOO to all the poor drug users who've had their lives ruined by the man. These people only care when their own lives are ruined. They could care less about the other lives they've ruined in the progression of crime sprees caused by their dealers, fellow addicts and other lowlife along the chain of custody getting their drug of choice to them.

When you talk to your kids about drugs, these are the kinds of stories you have to bring up.

Kids don't understand "pot's going to make you a burnt out stoner." Mainly because they'll look at you, mildly successful and attractive person that you are, and think "you did it and you're still ok." They never see all your burnout stoner friends who are still stumbling through life 30 years after high school.

On the other hand, seeing what happens to someone for even an incredibly mild infraction might give them pause. You can't argue with kids over whether or not "drugs are bad." You have to rub their noses in the fact that "it doesn't matter whether or not drugs are bad- if you get caught with them, you're screwed FOR LIFE."

Another thing to emphasize is that the drug laws today's kids face are not the same as they were when their parents were taking bong hits. They have mandatory sentencing. They carry hefty fees and require you to fork out massive amounts of cash for "rehabilitation." And worse, the proliferation of public-record search firms means that even an expunged conviction or plea stays around FOREVER.

There are tons of stupid laws that you can ignore w/o jeopardizing your future. Drug laws are not in that set.

Huh. I was sick for weeks--- wanted an antibiotic. Dr says they are abused and writes a script for a liter of cough syrup with ethyl morphine.


....left me wondering what would have happened if I begged for the syrup.
