Time to stage a thousand person Muslim prayer service outside the state capital building and watch Republicans' heads explode.

Time to pull a quote from my profile page, from farker Butterflew:

Some people actually believe that "Separation of Church and State" only means that the government can't stop you from loving Jesus.

See this, to me, is the concerning part:

Another part of the amendment sparking controversy is a section that reads "no student shall be compelled to perform or participate in academic assignments or educational presentations that violate his or her religious beliefs."

Stop complaining, libtards! Now we can pray away any health issues you have. And if it doesn't work then obviously you don't love Jesus enough like I do. Tough titty!

God told me that math is immoral, so I will not take any math classes.

I wonder if someone who gets in a car accident can claim they were praying/exercising their religious beliefs to get out of a ticket now that praying is a right whereas driving is. It

MacEnvy: Time to stage a thousand person Muslim prayer service outside the state capital building and watch Republicans' heads explode.

I came to say this. Can't wait for the first time a Muslim kid interrupts 5 different classes to bow to mecca. That is, if there is a Muslim kid in Missouri.

This was some good gamesmanship by the teatards and fundies. They got it put on a primary ballot that had democratic incumbents for the big stuff (senate and governor) so there was not going to be much democratic turnout AND they successfully lobbied to get it worded so it basically only mentioned a couple of the provisions and worded so it just said that "no one can infringe on a Missourian's right to pray" or something really innocuous.

89% voted in favor of this awful piece of legislation. I didn't have anybody approach me outside the polling place but my wife said when she was walking in from the parking lot with our 3 year old daughter in tow, some woman approached her with a flyer saying how important Amendment 2 was to save our child. I really wish it had been me that they approached because this entire thing has pissed me off beyond anything else the republicans in my state have done in the past 10 years.

Says students need not take part in assignments or presentations that violate their religious beliefs.

And there it is. Creationists can't get Creationism into the curriculum, so they've created a way for their children to opt-out of biology class.

/this is not meant, in any way, to diminish to staggering magnitude of the stupid in the entire legislation

The scope of this amendment isn't natural. Selection of a student's courses shouldn't be given to chance. There's too much stuff for people to monkey. Trial and error will only lead to larger failure rates and the student will not become more intelligent. Design legislation like this for a narrow focus and the benefits will be inherent. The wind is blowing against these kind of shenanigans. It's getting as silly as the end of The Life of Bryan.

Missouri voters believe "religious liberty is pretty important to them and a high priority," said Kerry Messer, president of the Missouri Family Network, as the votes were counted. "The public feels like the Supreme Court took this away from them over 50 years ago" with a ruling against mandatory school prayer.

That's so stupid it hurts my feelings.

But I thought it was a "controversy"! You can't claim a religious exemption if someone is teaching "both sides" of the debate - your beliefs aren't being "violated", they're being compared with another "theory".

// if logic has thus far failed to penetrate, I don't have high hopes for this line of thinking

Primitive screwheads.

This thing is designed to be challenged and overturned, by the way. Read the text:

http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/2012ballot/fulltext_1.pdf

It mentions 'Almighty God' more than a few times. What's that mean? It means it's promoting a single/group of religions above all the others that don't have Almighty Gods.

It's going to be challenged, it's going to cost the state money, and the whole farking time the sons of biatches pulling the strings on this are going to be crowing about how they're being oppressed by the liberal.

Bunch of farking ignorant hicks being led around by the nose by masters they deny exist.

HotWingConspiracy: So the Missouri public is pretty farking dumb, eh?

It's gotten worse in previous years. Missouri was for decades considered a bellwether state in presidential elections. Last time Missouri went to McCain by a small margin and this time around I don't think it's anywhere near being a swing state.

We've always had the derp, but 3 of the last 4 governors have been Democrats, albeit conservative, out state Democrats.

2012-08-08 10:46:16 AM
Sucks for you, libs. We have to fight fire with fire

Next we are going to outlaw abortion, and start taking this country back from you welfare queens and actually do something about the ridiculous tax system we pay in this country by electing Mitt Romney. He'll be the thunderdolt that that restarts our economy, and we will ride that lightning into prosperity. We have to get Obama out of here, nothing else matters.

Then the people will toss out all those arrogant SOB libs, so that there's justice for all and that they are no longer the master of puppets.

We have to escape this mess, because all of us that pay taxes feel like we are trapped under ice. It's sad, but true.

fenianfark: We've always had the derp, but 3 of the last 4 governors have been Democrats, albeit conservative, out state Democrats.

I think its because all the growth in the state has been in areas that tend to be more Republican (Suburban St. Louis and the Springfield-Branson area), its starting to dilute the influence of KC and St. Louis proper in politics.

Well, they will as long as they can do so by putting it on a ballot as a method of driving up the mouth-breather vote.

This is awesome. It's a great thing that all the Muslim children will no longer be prevented from bowing their heads towards Mecca 5 times per day without facing the threat of lower grades for their actions.

You already have a "right to pray." This law is like a law protecting your right to "not get murdered."

That last think about kids being able to "opt-out" of shiat is going to cause a whoel farkload of trouble for everyone.

Good jorb, Missourah.
