TheLopper: Lumbar Puncture: oldfarthenry: I don't think an Idiocracy spin-off will have the same emotional impact without the Bush administration being in power. Those were eight dumb years.

There is a currently ongoing public debate between a puppet company and a fast food company in regards to donations possibly used to help prevent gays from getting married, with a couple of recent presidential candidates shoveling the food in their mouths to support the fast food company from an imagined attack on their right to free speech.

The ridiculous level isn't going down anytime soon.

So what you're saying is to spray chicken patties on the crops?

No. With water. Like from the ter-let.

There are still two important questions that need to be asked of this series...

1) Will we learn more about the life of a pimp and how a pimp's love is very different from that of a square's? It is a fascinating world, after all.

2) Will Maya Rudolf's boobs feature prominently?

Once President Camacho's series is out of the way, they can get to this sitcom:

The answer to your question is:

"Office Space" and "Idiocracy" are bullseyes. "Extract" is a misfire. I saw it opening weekend and actually considered walking out. It was... not good.

I can think of precisely 2 reasons people watch that show and while it fits the theme, I won't hold that against them.

I just saw Extract today. You are pretty much right. I did laugh and I did fantasize about Mila Kunis, but the characters were undeveloped, the plot was thin. There were things that I liked, but I'm just going to chalk this one up to Mike Judge having a bad day or something.

//I loved the kid who banged his wife, but that plot point was structured so strangely...I kept thinking there would be a reveal that it was a misunderstanding. I loved David Koechner's character. I love Mila Kunis. Ben Affleck wasn't bad with what he was given. Kristen Wiig had NOTHING to work with, and was as good as she possibly could have been. Did I mention I want to give Mila Kunis the least satisfying twelve seconds of her life?

I loved Idiocracy. Granted, it wasn't the greatest of stories but the scenario was inspired and many of the set pieces were brilliant.

I can't say that I'm terribly confident about this idea. Camacho was a great character, but he doesn't have the everyman persona that Luke Wilson's character had as a protagonist and I can't see how that would work as well. Don't get me wrong, I'll give it a chance and I very much hope to be wrong about my pessimistic prediction, but at least at first flush it doesn't appeal to me half as much.

I am, along similar lines very much anticipating the time I will take to sit down to watch Bobcat Goldthwait's God Bless America (pops, red bland trailer, don't know if that is SFW or not). The satirical aspect looks to draw on much the same source. Any Farkers seen this yet? What did you think, and how does it compare with Idiocracy?

i believe "extract" will become short hand for marriage frustration the way "office space" is to office frustration, and "idiocracy" is to culture frustration.

Meh. It's visually striking, and it's easy to remember Bobcat got his start with music videos in certain scenes and sequences with this film. It's weird seeing perennial wacky chubby pal Joel Murray take such a dark turn with this role. Unfortunately, it's waaaayyyyy to preachy, and it does it very poorly. By about the 3rd or 4th 7+-minute monologue, I had grown sick of the film. I get it, pal, people are dumb, and our culture only celebrates the worst in human behavior rather than its best, but couldn't you have presented it in a better way than farking lecturing the audience for a long boring time?!

OK at best.

Finally I find someone who agrees with me on that movie. So overrated. It was extreme just to be extreme. And he showed his bias when he went on the Alice Cooper Is God rant. I was not impressed and I love stuff like that.

I don't know if this will work as a movie or TV show. If they however did a series of weekly web-shorts like the "Carl's Stone Cold Lock" videos on Adult Swim's website starring President Camacho I would be highly entertained and happy.

Wow, that's odd...I watched it for the first time last night. It's enjoyable. If you find yourself making faces of disgust as you flip through channels, if you're one of those people who "doesn't watch TV" [puts monocle in eye, sips Earl Grey], you'll like it. I confess to being a TV snob, incapable of watching just about everything on outside of movie reruns, serial dramas (e.g. Breaking Bad, The Wire), and Tosh.0 (I never said I was classy). The opening scene of the movie sends up all the dreck on TV, from Mean Girls to American Idol.

If you have ever had the urge to just start performing mercy killings, you'll like it. It's not a "great" film, but it is a guilty pleasure (the second kill is a skeet-like "pull" shot of a screaming baby).
