Obviously what's needed is lower taxes and less regulation on banks so that they don't have to sneak around and can conduct these transactions in the open without anyone looking over their shoulders. Then it wouldn't be a problem.

Awesome, a beer company.

That article is so full of win.

In July, a United States Senate panel found that HSBC was used by Iranians looking to evade sanctions and by Mexican drug cartels.

That's why I buy my hash and marijuana from the local growers collective, cut out the middlemen.

And in June, Barclays was fined £290m by UK and US regulators after the bank admitted that it had manipulated the Libor interest rate, which is used to set the prices of trillions of dollars worth of loans around the world, to inflate the bonuses of traders in its investment bank.

Investment banking: merely evil or a plague upon humanity? Hmmmm.....

But the New York regulator said yesterday that the wrongdoing was sanctioned by Standard Chartered's "most senior management". It reported that one senior director, when warned of the US sanctions, had said: "You f***ing Americans. Who are you to tell us, the rest of the world, that we're not going to deal with Iranians?"

It's a little distressing that a Brit isn't familiar with how imperialism works. History, do they teach it in the UK?

Like this:

Standard Chartered's roots lie in the fertile soil of the British Empire and the explosion of trade of the 19th century. The Scottish businessman and Liberal politician James Wilson was granted a banking charter by Queen Victoria in 1853. His Chartered Bank set up shop in Bombay, Calcutta and Singapore, where it financed the tea, indigo, sugar, and hemp trade between Britain and her colonies.

I know they mean hemp = rope, but still, it's nice to think that Queen Victoria might have been helping stoners get high back in the late 1800's.

The bank's share price fell by 6 per cent to 1470p leaving it valued at £35.7bn.

The poor dears, how ever will they manage?

/Yes, yes, I know what a 6% drop means

I don't think we will pick up any Iranian hardliners, considering just this weekend, Liverpool became the first Prem side to march officially in a Pride parade.

Now that I've made that point, inb4 "hurr soccer is gay durr!"

I preferred Candy, just because it was on the first replica kit my uncle bought me when I was wee one, but if you want to be pure old-school, it has to be Hitachi.

As a gay man, that's really cool, full props to the Red Filth, but what are they going to do about the racists and their monkey chants in The Kop?

Those aren't chants, that's just how scousers communicate with each other. Plus they can use Suarez's excuse, "it doesn't mean anything racist in Liverpudlian!"

No. Ever since Carlsberg stopped putting their brand on that filthy shirt, I've been able to drink and enjoy Carlsberg again.

Well, if anything, they'll just bring me out and say "It's cool, we've got a black supporter!"
