are you seriously saying that the iPhone is a shoddy product? I mean diff'rent strokes and all that but come on. the iPhone is on the whole brilliant and in fact DID spawn the ENTIRETY of the smart phone revolution, not to mention the entire current tablet market.

saying "coffee sucks" is an opinion. saying "the iphone is shoddy" is stupidity on a level that defies explanation because it is so easily proven wrong that opnion really goes out the window. I agree, but my problem here is that the fees very so widely from state to state. When the range is so wide, it's obviously pretty arbitrary and money-grubbing. States might have different needs, but this level of variation seems unnecessary.

So, the regulation protects consumers, but what does the rest of the money do?

Have you watched "Aliens" lately? It has not aged well, even for a movie that wasn't very good to begin with. The writing is pedestrian, the pacing is poor and the aliens look like sock puppets.

heh. I watch aliens about twice a month. it is the best movie ever made that isn't Robocop.

/Aliens is ALMOST timeless. a few effects shots hold it back a bit but on the whole it remains a fantastic movie that puts most modern action films to shame, not to mention that the HD version of the film out there now is just gorgeous.

Also, it's a farking pillow. How much protection do people REALLY need from a pillow? Apparently there are plenty of states that have decided it isn't necessary, so why the discrepancy?

I'd be plenty pissed off too if I came on a simple business idea but then found out I would have to cough up $5000 in fees before I could even get started, especially when it's for something as inane as a tag telling you not to stuff your baby into it face first.

Any time you read a story like this (especially from a source such as Glenn Beck's site), ask yourself, cui bono? Who benefits? Hint: it's not the government. You may laugh at the idea of there being a Big Pillow consortium out there, but some outfit that makes millions of them per year isn't going to blink at paying a few grand for fees. And they don't care if the competition is a hipster on Etsy or some SAHM-to-be.

and if there is one way to make a great movie even better, it is to capture HD data from the original film.

Aliens is such a film. The transfer is brilliant.
