Yes, but given the President's insistence on remaining black, the decline in spending/GDP ratio is necessarily positive.

Similarly, Gabby Giffords is a national shame - who gave her permission to win a gold medal while blantantly being African-American in the day time??

How bad is it when the government can't sustain jobs. You would think that spending $5,000,000,000,000 would have more to show for it

If Obama was a Republican every Blogger-Patriot would be screaming "Why isn't he on Mount Rushmore yet? Why haven't we renamed it Obamalahoma? He's like Reagan, but with a delightful tan!"

And Serena Williams is embarrassing our nation by doing the three-second, obvious, internationally known Crip Walk after winning the gold medal.

I mean, thugs like Justin Bieber do that dance in their godless music videos, for Pete's sake.

So... Subby found a graph showing that the public sector was also hit by the recession? Nice work there, Lou.

Which is why private sector jobs have actually been growing. Nice research there, Tim.

Seems to me that that would be the exact definition of reducing government.

Public sector is the only one to lose jobs every month since the Census ended.

For those who find the machinations of right wing liars an interesting psychological phenomenon this is a particular interesting period of time.

It's always totally silent from the 1st Battalion Fighting farkwits when Obama does something that they have been saying they want for years but now they have to find a narrative to avoid agreeing with something he did. when he does it.

This is a common liberal misconception. Proper small government not only eliminates government programs, it eliminates the desire for such programs. When we look to eliminate the EPA, we don't expect a private organization to function like the EPA's iron hand - corporations would have none of it. Companies would police themselves. Similarly, when we say we want to eliminate the USPS, we don't want to hand the delivery of letters and ownership of mailboxes to UPS or FedEX, we want to get rid of the socialist idea of 'writing'. If talking to people was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for the US of A.

look at how many private security forces we have in Iraq for example.

Sad that the largest cut in employment was in teachers. 0bama couldn't find anyone else to cut?

Government jobs grew during ronnie raygun's 80's. too funny. don't tell that to a lying full of sh*t reagan loving republican.

its ok if government jobs grow when the economy is doing well and rich Turds are paying their fair share of the taxes. course, we don't have that now because so many good middle class jobs went to places like communist china and rich turds have been getting tax cuts over the last 15 years.

ironic that we're farking ourselves in the arse. cutting government jobs AND sending private sector jobs overseas. a double whammy for a Recession that may never end.....

what will America do when she has 100 million of her citizens out of work with lots of free time on their hands to think and plan?

you already know.

Teachers (public school ones) are paid by the states they work in, not by the Feds. Teachers are hired and fired by the states they work in, not by the Feds.

Wanna take a guess what all those cuts to federal education spending ended up doing? As a bonus, tell me who pushed for those cuts.

Hehe. It actually would be nice if we tried some stimulus (that was bigger than the decline in State and local spending). Shame it'll never happen though.

2012-08-07 10:14:05 AM
How many of these are federal government workers, and how many were state?

Hint: state governments are reducing budgets, because many are constitutionally required to balance each year or 2-year cycle.

2012-08-07 10:14:05 AM
This by the way represents TCFOMC or 'The central failing of modern conservatives'.

They will talk about 'important principles' frequently invoking the 'collapse of America' if these 'important principles' are not followed.

But the problem is they dont actually have any principles. Their principles are 'I want republicans to win things'. We know they don't have any principles because when a democrat puts into to place policy items that are in lockstep agreement with these principles they hate it.

It's team over principles every time. No integrity, no intellectual courage, no principles. If someone who wasn't a republican made abortion illegal they'd suddenly be pissed.

TFA correctly indicates that they are talking about federal, state, and local jobs. The shrinkage in govt employment has been at the state and local level, I believe, as they don't have the ability to borrow to finance deficits like the federal govt does. For what that's worth.
