Oh, I can't wait to see what Fox say about Gabby Douglas falling off the beam like that

The people at NBC must've had coronaries after yesterday, having to suddenly figure out how to fill time.

Well now they can fill 15 minutes with Tim Daggett's and Elfi Schlegel's explanation of the scoring inquiry for Aly Raisman.

Fox's gonna have a field day with:

1. Gabby falling on the beam
2. Gabby not wearing a stars-and-stripes uniform, while Aly Raisman did.

The Japan-China women's volleyball match was the best I've ever seen. 5 full sets, lots of back-and-forth swings, and pretty much everyone ready to collapse of exhaustion by the end.

Moar cycling golds. Moar. MOAR!

I expect the same thing in the USA-DR match.

Thinking about taking the day off from coverage. Maybe after the cycling finals.

We watched the medal races in Men's Sprint from the Velodrome yesterday.

My family all agreed that was the weirdest "sprint" we had ever seen. The last lap was good, but the first 2 laps were weird. One of my family members asked "do they have a rule that says one of them has to be in front?"

That may be a good idea. NBC has Doc Emerick doing the USA women's water polo match. He narrates it exactly like a hockey game.

This is China's last best day for medals. They'll haul in probably 5 of their 7 projected golds (plus a couple potential golds from other events that haven't really gotten in full swing yet), most coming in gymnastics with a diving medal and a women's team table tennis. They have what I think is an outside shot at gold in the women's sprint and men's keirin, but I don't think they'll get it in either.

Team USA will probably only get a gold in the women's 100m hurdles, with a good shot at gold in the men's high jump and maybe one gold out of all the gymnastics events out there (not counting on it). Should get a decent medal count out of the day, but I predict Team China will have a comfortable lead in the medals when the day is through.

I went on a 35km bike ride this morning. Arrived back just i time for the start of the men's triathlon. Put me back in my place...

Oi, BBC One, stop showing dancing horses.

The one behind doesn't want to bolt too soon because he'll run out of steam, and the one in front has to watch to make sure the one behind doesn't get the jump on him and leave him with too much of a gap to make up. Or something.

Is he in a seat or dangling from a wire?

*snerk* actually in a seat.

If he wins a medal I'll have to concede that we're cheating.

The men's high bar routines were absolutely awesome to watch today. You would have never expected it from the low qualifying scores the other day.

now that would be a sight, Boris riding around the velodrome.

Damn you Gosling. I stared at that for longer than I'd like to admit. Olympic eyebleach needed ASAP

Oh, that's why they were showing the dancing horses. GB won gold, thus making this Britain's most successful Olympics ever (not counting 1908, which was somewhat skewed due to the number of events to which only British competitors showed up).

I don't know, Boris is a pretty avid cyclist. Didn't he once break up a mugging while riding his bike to work?

He's clearly a liberal. Being that proud of a mere bronze is un-American.

Blame Lisa. She did it to me first.

Oh, and I'm really glad they adjusted Ally Raisman's score on the beam...it just seemed ridiculously low for the routine she performed.

I swear the UCI's decision to only allow one competitor from each country into each individual event was to stop Team GB winning all the medals.

It actually was. It was in response to Beijing.

On which note, I do not understand Victoria Pendleton. She was some distance behind, then broke, but so did the German girl...and the speed differential on the home straight was enormous. And Vogel's not exactly slow.

I'm not sure if it's because she's Jewish or American. Or both.

Yeah, my first thought when I saw that score was "wow, they must really hate her."

Ok - never buy a Spanish bicycle.

It's a tie game in the water polo pool!

2012-08-07 11:39:49 AM
USA women's water polo- I have no damn clue what the fark just happened, but Australia was gifted a penalty shot to tie the match with 1 second left.

bborchar: Yeah, my first thought when I saw that score was "wow, they must really hate her."

Maybe that's why she does her floor routine to Hava Nagila. If they give a lower than expected score, it'd be way too obvious.

No shiat. Three breaks in three races? I think that's what they said.

Women's water polo semis: USA 9, AUS 9.. OVERTIME! Anyone watching? I'm at work, stuck just updated my phone for scores...

Ouch penalty shot with a second left?!? Probably good thing I'm not watching.. Jack would quickly find his way into my drink

Also today you need Pendleton and Hoy to SMASH china to help you guys in the medal table.

We will gracefully come third in the medal table

Maybe I'm dumb, but I don't understand the pace bike.

I know they had that broken chain and then a puncture in the road race. The bike techs have obviously been taking too many siestas.

and that's one already for Hoy!
