Considering the jury has already been instructed that Samsung has destroyed evidence and that they should infer that it was incriminating, shredder jokes may be a little too soon.

Ah Korean ethics. Not a surprise, have you seen a similarities in their Hyundais & KIAs to Mercedes Benz??? Even though they flood the market with cheap product one guess which of these companies originated these designs.

Then why did Samsung apparently copy Apple if the iPhone wasn't that great?
Oh, right...

Whatever. I demoed the 4S and the SIII the other day. No comparison, and they are different looking enough that any Apple nonsense to get it pulled from the market would fall flat in any court more than 50 miles from Cupertino.

Apple didn't invent the touch screen, fanboys. Get over it.

Yeah, right. Then how come they own the very first patent on a touchscreen, and how come they're suing Wacom and Elo? They don't. They're not. Stop spreading FUD.

Good thing the iPhone came out in 2010 that way your point is valid and all.

Because the patent office blows. If you can make your patent obscure and vague enough, then you can claim all kinds of crap violated your patent.

The only ones who win in this game are the lawyers. Everyone else just has to pay more to play because someone patented, "a method and apparatus to allow unlock a screen by performing an action it that's totally obvious based on a limitations of the form factor but we were the first ones to file a patent on it. Don't go looking for prior art, because there isn't any. Trust us on this. Really... We promise we're being honest."

Henry Ford should have patented the farking wheel. He would have made millions more because everyone else would have had to use methods and appartus to transfer mechanical propelling force to the ground using rectangles. "Ford, bringing you the smoothest ride because we got circles, biatches."

It was something of a disruption, mainly in that touch screens went from the issue, stylish driven resistive ones to the slick, multitouch ones.

What apple did was apply the tablet version of windows to a phone, and completely scrap the keyboard slider in favor of a virtual one. It made it a simple affair, compared to smart phone OS's of the day.

Everything else about the iphone 2g sucked, but the os design was very intelligent.

Not sure if serious. That chart goes back to 2008, y'know.

If they kept that memo, I'd love to see the stuff they destroyed. They probably confessed to copying the iPhone, both Kennedy assassinations, and the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby.

And Apple was doing crap according to that chart until 2010.

Sure, if you consider being either the #2 or #3 smartphone manufacturer "doing crap". You do know that we can all see the chart, right?

Here's my take on it:

We just got outdesigned by Apple, unexpectedly!

Well, there's just no time to design something better, we must hit the market NOW!

Just copy nearly all of their design elements, icons, and layout, and get it out NOW.

Well, that would be faster.

Here's the document in question on Scribd.

It's 263 pages of how Apple's phone does things compared with how Samsung did things, followed by a recommendation for specific changes Samsung needs to make to be more like Apple.

Just curious, what features on the Nexus and Galaxy SIII put the iPhone to "shame"?

Why is the screen in every Apple device designed and manufactured by Samsung?

Huh? Apple copied the Prada phone from LG.

Apple doesn't take off until Q3 2011 in that chart. Coincidentally right after the Galaxy S2 came out and Apple started copying Android features like a notification pull down, multitasking and the ability to change the wallpaper image.
