Can't tell if Boston's is real anymore, or if they just throw pink hat bait out the back door to get people to come in at the last second to cover the streak.

Maybe now the Frat Brahs will start bailing out so getting tickets for a game doesn't require a six-month advance purchase or a cornholing via StubHub.

Not real. They sell the tickets to stub hub. Fenway is half full all the time.

You could have purchased $2.75 tickets for Phils v Cards last week on StubHub.

Good for Phillies fans. You had a great run and showed up in terrific numbers. But when your team is underachieving in a huge way then take your dollars elsewhere until management can right the ship. It's not incumbent on fans to 'support the team' (as I used to think) as it is for the team to field a watchable product.

/Rockies fan. Denver is always in the upper-half of total attendance no matter what the record and despite management being completely rudderless. We're going to suck for a while.

It's pretty easy to write this year off based on injuries, so until we suck again next season, I'll be doing just that.

It's been awhile since the best MLB team in the state played on the west side.

Go Bucs.

It was a good streak, and a fairly honest one at that. Still, the Phillies need to fix a couple of things before I'll buy another jersey.

/At least we kept Cole Hamels

Yeah, or you can reward the owners for not wining by selling out over and over, its not like a game into the season people started to waver, and its not like attendence dropped to zero either, they just did not sell out.

See the eagles if you need a reason why selling out no matter how the team plays actually stops owners from really trying to win...

Football and baseball are not comparable in that aspect.

Typical yinzer. No one gave a shiat about them for years. Now one good season and the front-runners are out there with their just bought Pirates hats. Biggest front-running sports town in the country.

Speaking of streaks, looks like your epic losing one might come to an end.

//the rest of MLB will be very happy to take your talent off your hands as per every other year.
///when one streak ends, another must begin. enjoy mediocrity forever, bro.

Fire sale? The loss of Victorino, Pence, and Blanton don't scream fire sale to me.

I don't see it. Those 3 weren't coming back anyway. I wouldn't be shocked if Lee gets traded in the off season, but he should net a return that will help the team almost immediately. It won't just be for a bunch of single A prospects.

A team with the Phillies payroll shouldn't need to fire sale. I'm not saying they'll be able to just fill in the pieces and become the elite of the NL again, but they should easily be able to remain competitive.

There won't be a fire sale because most of the parts left have little trade value.

I am surprised they didn't let Lee go to the Dodgers for nothing, just to get rid of that contract. I guess they are hoping he can chop an entire run off of his ERA next year.

Be careful, Phillies. It's a slippery slope from "Ending massive sellout streak" to "Dead last in the league in attendance".

Sincerely,
Cleveland

It's not so much a fire sale as it is trying to get under the cap. They're likely to still be over it next year, but the new CBA has big penalties for violating it for consecutive years.

There's no danger of that in the NL - San Diego and Colorado can make sure of that. Heck, the Phils wouldn't even be in danger of it within the division, as long as the Marlins still exist.

I disagree, in almost every business there is no reason to spend over the ratio where the profit margin starts to diminish. If the Eagles or Phillies sell out every game with utility players and a few names and still look like they are able to put out a working product that has a chance at the playoffs what is their incentive to spend over the top just to win it all?
