Is that also why Republicans don't like him?

/your blog sucks

If Romney's father loved him, we wouldn't have to suffer him running a disastrous, embarrassing bid for the office of the president every four years. He wouldn't have had to bully other kids at prep school to compensate for his own feelings of inadequacy. He wouldn't have played dress-up cop to harass his friends. And he wouldn't have strapped a dog to the roof of his car.

He also would release his tax returns.

This would be funny in a sort of perverse way if the author weren't actually serious.

"gave it away"?

Is this the new talking point from the short-bus crew to refute the idea that Romney is really just an overprivileged vulture capitalist who could have never succeeded without daddy's pocketbook?

I'm pretty sure that George Romney has been spinning in his grave since this clusterfark of a campaign started.

That has nothing to do with the article (well, probably, I'm sure as hell not going to read it), but hey.

2012-08-07 08:57:37 AM
Romney turned out the way he did, despite having a loving father.

I was wondering if a non-troll was going to defend that.

Hey, just keeping with the childish theme the blog has going.

And now he pisses on his dead father's leg by refusing to be transparent with his tax records.

2012-08-07 09:03:21 AM
Why would Romney need his inheritence when his rich, privileged family's connections had already made him more rich than you can possibly comprehend before his parents died?

Why keep the money when he could donate it to his cult and generate this fable of the self-made-man instead?

2012-08-07 09:03:27 AM
I thought Mitten's dad used to strap him to the roof of the family station-wagon when heading out on vacations - or something?

fta Interesting, if true.

Interesting, if true. The reality-based community had long complained that Mitt Romney is an open and unapologetic liar who will say anything to anyone at any time for the smallest political gain. But Notabunny depicts Romney, who styles himself as an unethical money grubber, as uninterested in what he himself says or how his actions effect others, as long the result is significant personal financial gain.

I heard More Lame writes speculative spite because his father molested him. It wasn't the steady diet of anal sex that did it, it was his father not caring enough to give him a reach around.

From the comments:

I don't know if that's *all* there is to his daddy issues. I think Obama is also suffering from the knowledge that a lot of people are hating his surrogate daddy. The only daddy that stood by him his whole life when the others ran out on him and his mom.

I say this as someone usually in the know: who the hell is this guy talking about?

So he "gives away" his money in the same way that the government "takes away" your money?* Considering the probable intended audience, I guess that's supposed to make some kind of sense.

*i.e. a small percentage

The phrasing implies that he gave it all away, and then rebuilt the fortune. So, did he give it ALL to the church, and then amass a new pile-o-bucksTM? Or did he give the standard 10%, that over time equaled the head start that he was blessed with? Because those are two very different situations.

2012-08-07 09:06:32 AM
If anything, it appears that Romney's father was one of those unemotional, distant figures that Mitt looked to for approval and recognition, and never got it. And what's with this "Mitt gave away his fortune then earned it back" claptrap? He was born with a gold spoon in his mouth and never, EVER had to take it out. Mitt never did without, never saw his parents struggle to keep his lavish lifestyle going, never had to make sacrifices for anything he did.

Romney is a priviledged, entitled little boy who is still looking to win his father's approval as an adult.

2012-08-07 09:07:24 AM
When did Romney give away his entire fortune? To whom did he give it?

2012-08-07 09:07:32 AM
Funny, I thought Mitt Romney, like George Bush had daddy issues and was running partly as some odd attempt to prove he was better than his father instead of living under his shadow.

Why yes. Mitt Romney did give money away in his most recent tax returns (the only ones he will release to the public)...he gave it away to church organizations who have in turn awesomely returned the favor by contributing vast sums of money to super pacs which support ol' mitty.

This is the circlejerk of life friends...and if you're poor, you can eat the cracker.

FTA:

Interesting, if true. I think that it is: it would explain why Obama unraveled twenty years of careful political persona development in four months.

He did? When did that happen?

However, while I think that Glenn Thrush may be correct in the symptoms of Obama's hatred of Romney

Obama hates Romney?

I suspect that he - and everybody else, since I feel like being quite appallingly arrogant - has gotten the wrong idea of the diagnosis of Romney's hatred. I think that it's very simple: it's not that Mitt Romney was born rich, gave it away, and got rich again that infuriates Barack Obama so.

Mitt Romney gave his money away? Really? Mitt Romney is Ozymandius?

It's that Mitt Romney had a father who loved him.

and this somehow makes the president hate him?

And that is a thought that fills me with a terrible pity towards Barack H. Obama, Jr.

And this post fills me with terrible disbelief.

Giving 10% away isn't the same as "giving it away"

And, yet, it is Obama who is POTUS and Rmoney who is the drunken, obnoxious party guess over in Europe.
