If you just typed all that and it's not a copypasta, I want some of whatever you're on.

Mentat: One of the points of this deal with 'Daredevil' staying with Fox would be that Fox would have to give the rights to the 'Fantastic Four' universe to Marvel, which includes the big bad villain Galactus. You remember Galactus. He showed up during the end credit sequence of 'The Avengers'.

Daredevil: The Man Without Fear was a fairly decent miniseries, but after reading about his version of RoboCop on iMockery, I really don't think he can, or should be allowed within breathing distance of this project.

The director's cut was actually quite good.

And while doing a Serpico-meets-Blaxploitation sure could work, there's nothing wrong with a slightly happier vision of Daredevil, as the current comic version shows.

/But I'm okay with Miller, as long as it prevents more Millar.

To be fair, it bloody well should have been. I mean, srsly? The dude whose evil plan is to put on a super-pretty rhinestone and glitter glove made by a mystical class of kindergartners?

I think most of us are just living in a world where it was Galactus instead because we're unwilling to accept that Whedon's big chance at joining the Hollywood elite ended on the most retarded note possible.

No, it isn't.

Frank Miller has sucked since the late-90s.

Came here to say this. Does no one remember The Spirit? The Dark Knight Strikes Again? 300? The man hasn't been great in forever and hasn't been good in a long while.

Yes, but if they base the new Daredevil movie off of the GOOD era of Frank Miller work, they could have a winner.

AND, I could get behind them convincing Joe Carnahan to direct.

Fox is only even DOING the movie so they can continue to property squat on marvel licenses. Same reason sony shat out that awful spiderman reboot. And the only reason theyre set to lose the fantastic 4 is because they didnt do anything with the licenses in time and were facing both of them defaulting back to marvel. They gave up f4 to get an extension on making daredevil.... which is retarded because no one cares about daredevil.

carnifex2005: ODDwhun: I really want to believe the part about Marvel letting Fox keep DD in exchange for getting FF back, but then this is from a website that couldn't be bothered to get the post credit scene in Avengers right. Since they are planning on using Thanos, this would give them Adam Warlock, and open up for of the galactic Marvel universe, Kree, Skrulls, Surfer, etc. Oh and I guess they'd have FF too.

Don't really care about FF, Reed is useless and we have enough brain power between Stark, Banner, and Pym is coming.

They grabbed the story from Variety, so I'm guessing it's legit.

And the Variety article says that it's for "rights to use characters from the FANTASTIC FOUR universe," not that the Fantastic Four themselves are going back to Marvel. It sounds like Marvel wants the right to use Galactus and Silver Surfer, which would put Marvel's rights to those characters in line with their rights to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Fox would never give up a property like Fantastic Four for Daredevil.

If it's anything like the retelling of DD's origin story that Miller did with John Romita Jr back in the day, I'll watch it. Miller was responsible for some of DD's best story arcs too.

I'm ok with this. Fantastic Four have always been kind of lame, but Silver Surfer/Galactus would be bad-ass. They only thing I'd like to see them hold over from those abominations of film would be Lawrence Fishburne as the voice of the Surfer.

"Born Again" was an outstanding Frank Miller Daredevil story. It's in TPB if you haven't read it already.

"Man Without Fear" was phoned in, and it sucks hard.

Ummm....what? Do you even realize that you're talking completely out your ass on this one? You're talking about Whedon blowing chances after he just got done making one of the highest grossing movies of all time? You're saying how it went out on a retarded note when we don't even know which direction the current Marvel movie-verse is going to take Thanos' character, especially with the announcement of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie on the way? What exactly are you basing these assumptions on, because it's clear that it's not coming from the realms of fact.

The R rated directors cut of this first one was actually pretty good. A bit darker and more violent, a lot more lawyering and a lot less Elektra.

I didn't see the R-rated version but I didn't see what was so terrible about even the PG-13 one. I think the character is kind of boring in the first place but aside from the playground scene, I thought the film was decent. I don't get the hate for Affleck either.

No, this guy did.

That's Thanos. he looks like this is the comic.

Galactus looks like this:

Not hard to tell them apart, really.

/Feel my nerd rage!

But wait, I thought the New Gods were owned by DC.

I would sell my soul for a big-budget, high-production value movie with Darkseid. Darksied vesrus Orion, Darkseid vs Superman, whatever. Imagine what ILM could do with a CGI Apokolips.

Imagine what could be done with DC Characters if Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment weren't involved.

Imagine what they could do with a lot of these properties if the fans and the owners would let them have true artistic creativity, continual storylines with meaningful actions and consequences and real meaningful deaths (instead of everyone having mega healing and being dead a week or two).

And not rebooting it every month. Having characters age and be phased out for new generations of characters who act in different manners and can grow in different ways? Instead of the semi stale continual repeating loop of the same 4 stories...

Madbassist1: /I agree with you.

Well, if you two liked the original version, youll probably love the directors cut, it pretty much improves every aspect of the film. IDK if its on netflix, but worth torrenting sometime. Im not saying it brings it up to TDK/IM/Avengers/X2/SM2 levels, but definitively brings it up from the Catwoman/F4/Ghost Rider levels.

/still has the POHR playground scene though

idk, I don't think there is really that much less Elektra as opposed to them just cutting out the sex scene. I prefer the DC, but I found the original to be alright on its own also.

TV's Vinnie: Has everyone already forgotten what a right wing douchebag Frank Miller is?

Frank Miller being a right wing douchebag wouldn't even be an issue if it hadn't become the sole point of his work.

For example, Chuck Dixon is conservative. It isn't the point of his comics, so it's no big deal.

John Byrne is a complete asshole. But, that hasn't taken over his work, so who cares?

But Miller? He went around the bend, and now every book he writes is WHARRGARBL TURRURUSTS BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA 9/11!

Well actually, it's puerile dogsh*t. Alan Moore served him up good with fava beans & Chianti after that OWS brainfart Frankie had last year.

I'm another hoping that Miller is being included so they can use the GOOD stuff that brought the DD comic back to life. That was back when Quesada was just a kick-ass artist too. I miss that Quesada.
