Wouldn't you end up with a surplus of tartar in that situation?

I can definitely vouch for this. A lot of farm ponds are very shallow and drying up. The dead fish are everywhere.

In related news - how I make my tartar sauce. I don't use measurements so you'll have to adjust.

Start with Mayonnaise (or make your own)
.Chop these things up
.Yellow Onion
.Bread & Butter pickles
.Dill pickles
.Garlic

Add these spices
.Black pepper
.Oregano
.Crushed red pepper

Sometimes I will add a dash of curry powder, change teh bread and butter pickles for sweet or even add chili powder. Its an easy one to tweak.

Mix all that together, can use immed but best left in the fridge for awhile. Stop buying tartar sauce from anywhere ever.

Or just do the lazy approach and buy pickle relish and mix that with mayo.

Tartar sauce on fish is equivalent to ketchup on a steak. You are doing it wrong.

How about Ketchup on fish?

I do not allow ketchup on steak at my house, I don't care if you like it it's just not an option and I will take your steak from you.

Duke Phillips' Singing Bears: ha HA! We're all going to starve to death! Whhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

nah, all our food comes from Mexico and central/south America.
The food grown here is specially subsidized to be shipped to Africa and sold at such a low price that dirt poor farmers can't even compete.

So, in a nutshell...we've even outsourced our starving.

Bad news is the Asian Carp will probably tolerate these conditions better than the fish you want to survive.

Same thing happened in Texas last year, not an issue this year.

A few of the trophy trout lakes around here are having similar problems. Our water is very alkaline at the best of times, but the increase in heat has made the water pH go up high enough that the invertebrates are dying off en masse. I was catching 18" rainbow trout that were 1.5 lbs.. normally they should be 3 - 4 lbs. Not a single bit of food in the stomachs. Looked like fish heads on toothpicks. All the lakes affected seem to be in a very similar altitude, lakes lower and higher don't seem to have the problems.

The alkalinity in one lake was so high that the metal on my boat had signs of corrosion after a couple days sitting in the water. Lots of the lakes have thick bands of white alkali salts around the shore.. I have never seen that in the 30 years I have fished these lakes.

ketchup is the proper condiment for breaded fried fish, Tartar sauce is the proper condiment for grilled fish.

Everything has limits. My guess, high populations are a major lethal factor.
