It takes a Big Man to carp on a little girl. Especially, if the little girl is getting more attention than he is. "NO DON'T LOOK AT HER!!! LOOK AT ME!!! SHE'S A BIG MEANIEPANTS FOR GETTING MORE ATTENTION THAN ME!!!!!!"

Oh, and she's black.

Bocasio: blah

Sorry you're offended Princess, but it strikes many of us as ridiculous when athletes imply that God put dealing with world hunger aside in order to intervene in a football game.

Hahaha big man to call strangers names. Go take your meds and read a book for Christs sake.

I didn't disrespect anyone here, or said "blah"

What kind of silly person, makes fake post quotes on a message board.

Sybilll: I never, ever saw where Gabby was accused of being unpatriotic. FFS, the story was about the fans and the Salon story. Why I ever paid for a TF membership escapes me. I can read this shiat at Reddit or Media Matters.

Unreal.

"America is America, and we are a very nationalistic nation. And we've also lost, over time, that jingoistic feeling"

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? This teabagging retard is actually lamenting a decline in jingoism?

Fox News is the metastasis of the authoritarian neocon cancer we got during the Reagan administration. We are farked as a country

Seriously. I don't get it.

As an American living in Europe, it's always seemed strange to me that when Europeans (or indeed, citizens of other nations) attend sporting events (for example, in the UEFA Euro Cup, the Olympics, etc.) clad in their national colors, waving a flag, made up with face paint, etc., they pull it off in a (usually) non-tacky way. Seeing Americans use the flag and patriotic emblems as major components of uniforms, having flag face paint, etc. just seems really tacky to me for some reason. Not sure why. Same thing with flag pins on politicians, flags at car dealerships, etc.

Then again, I try to be the quiet, non-obnoxious foreigner, so maybe it's just my feeling of wanting to be discreet. This image, as shown upthread, is pretty much what I consider to be the ideal uniform -- non-obnoxious, discrete, and not flashy.

/For the love of all that is good, the various USA Olympic teams should really coordinate on some unified design for uniforms.

As someone who has been to a few live Olympic events, including a USA basketball game I can assure Fox News that there's a whole load of Americans in the crowd waving flags and starting 'USA' chants. There's also thousands of Dutch people wearing Orange, Brazilians, Chinese etc.

This is a stupid non-complaint.

I think we're perhaps six years from Fox News openly calling black people the N word on television at this point.

Aquapope: You ever notice the folks that screech "American Exceptionalism" the most are the ones trying to get rid of all the things that have made America exceptional in the past? Things like plurality of thought, scientific progress, integration of foreign people and cultures, respect for other ideologies... Sure we haven't shown all of those things all of the time, but when we've been exceptional, it was because of them.

America wasn't born exceptional. Neither was Gabby. Both had to work hard to achieve it. But some folks think that the US was born in some kind of national manger with manifest destiny angels all around and we are always exceptional, regardless of how base or arrogant we act.

I find this disgusting.

I find belittling a girl who not only is so young she looks like she's still in puberty, but also won two farking medals, to continue this attitude to be cowardly, shameful, and repulsive on every level. Even if she were the worst athlete in the world, Gabby Douglas is sixteen farking years old. STFU, Fox. Just STFU.
