He has his own planet now. And I bet he's got an unlimited heroin supply there.

Kid was only 29. Damn.

Heroin may not have been the direct cause of death (if he turned is life around as indicated) but it could have been the indirect cause. It could have cause long term heart conditions or funky cancer. My cousin was a heroin addict and managed to get bone cancer. The oncologist predicts it was caused by cellular damage from heroin.

Or he overdosed.. whatever. 29 still sucks as an age to die.

Sad. Condolences out to the Reid family. Burying one of your kids has got to be one of the toughest things to go through in life.

Very sad. Addiction is no joke.

MAYORBOB: Sad. Condolences out to the Reid family. Burying one of your kids has got to be one of the toughest things to go through in life.

That kid had serious problems even at 24 years old, and unfortunately the younger brother isn't so stable either. Hopefully his brother's passing will be a wakeup call for him. Sympathies to the Reids.

it's a great country, but a weird culture - George Carlin.

Can't imagine the feeling of burying a child and hope I never do. I've witnessed a few times where a former addict suddenly dies a few years after coming clean. Weird and sad situation. RIP

On the plus side he won't watch the Eagles not win the super bowl again

I actually thought Reid had already lost one of his kids. On another note I was listening to AM sports talk in the car this morning and the signal faded and I thought the announcer said Andy Reid was found dead in his hotel room. After getting home I found out what actually happened.

/Thought the guy ate one to many cheeseburgers.

29? We've finally found someone worse at clock management than Andy Reid.

Reid, 29, was at Lehigh helping out with strength and conditioning during camp.

Hmmm.

2012-08-05 01:15:36 PM
That's rough. It's a perversion of the natural order for children to pass before their parents.

2012-08-05 01:15:53 PM
The last time I recall Andy missing a practice was the same son in court on weapons & drug charges.

When twitter told me at like 8 that he wasn't at practice, I figured it was either him or the kid found dead.

Its too bad, for Andy. He's a pretty nice guy. Nobody deserves having to bury a child.

They needed another mentor that Vick could look up to.

Andy Reid has enough money that his children and grandchildren would never have to work. He should have resigned a couple years ago to focus on getting his family straightened out. He could always go back to coaching in a few years.

Ill see your needle and the damage done and raise you snowblind friend

You say it was this morning when you last saw your good friend
Lyin' on the pavement with a misery on his brain
Stoned on some new potion he found upon the wall
Of some unholy bathroom in some ungodly hall
He only had a dollar to live on 'til next Monday
But he spent it on some comfort for his mind
Did you say you think he's blind?

Someone should call his parents, a sister or a brother
And they'll come to take him back home on a bus
But he'll always be a problem to his poor and puzzled mother
Yeah he'll always be another one of us
He said he wanted Heaven but prayin' was too slow
So he bought a one way ticket on an airline made of snow
Did you say you saw your good friend flyin' low?
Flyin' low
Dyin' slow

Heroin addict assisting with the strength coaches at an NFL camp. Sounds perfectly reasonable and not like a recipe for disaster at all.

Well played . . .

Sam Stone was alone
When he popped his last balloon
Climbing walls while sitting in a chair
Well, he played his last request
While the room smelled just like death
With an overdose hovering in the air
But life had lost its fun
And there was nothing to be done

Lou Cypher: Heroin addict assisting with the strength coaches at an NFL camp. Sounds perfectly reasonable and not like a recipe for disaster at all.

Why? It would add structure to his life, and plenty of people to keep an eye on him. Half the problem of addiction is having free time, not keeping busy. Pro athletes may be getting steroids, but not heroin. Sure, some guys are going to go drinking in the clubs, but everyone there knows that the boss's son is trying to stay clean. Imagine if you're the asshole that leads him back into using.

My cousin died of a drug overdose in his mid-30's, and my father died of alcohol withdrawal (after a huge binge) at 54. Substance abuse sucks, and I feel for their family.

You know I smoked a lot of grass
Oh Lord I popped a lot of pills
But I never touched nothin'
That my spirit could kill

You know I've seen a lot of people
Walking around with tombstones in their eyes
But the pusher don't care
Ah if you live or if you die

God damn, the pusher, God damn, hey I say the pusher
I say, "God damn, God damn the pusherman"

You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With a lot of grass in his hand
Ah but the pusher is a monster
Good god he's not a natural man

The dealer, for a nickel lord
He'll sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah but the pusher'll ruin your body
Lord he'll leave, he'll leave your mind to scream

God damn, the pusher, god damn, God damn the pusher
I said, "God damn, God, God damn the pusherman"

Well Lord if I were the president of this land
You know I'd declare total war on the pusherman
I'd cut him if he stands and I shoot him if he'd run
And I'd kill him with my bible and my razor and my gun

God damn, the pusher, god damn, the pusher
I said, "God damn, God damn the pusherman"

If the guy were active in recovery and had established his sobriety, I would agree with you. Obviously I don't know the situation here, but this outcome suggests he was still struggling. I was just making a superficial observation that an NFL weight room might not be the best environment for someone with a tendency to "nod".

Carmelita

I hear Mariachi static on my radio
And the tubes they glow in the dark
And I'm there with her in Ensenada
And I'm here in Echo Park

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I'm sittin' here playing solitaire
With my pearl-handled deck
The county won't give me no more methadone
And they cut off your welfare check

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Well, I pawned my Smith Corona
And I went to meet my man
He hangs out down on Alvarado Street
By the Pioneer chicken stand

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin
On the outskirts of town

Carmelita hold me tighter
I think I'm sinking down
And I'm all strung out on heroin

Rehab

They tried to make me go to rehab, I said, "No, no, no"
Yes, I've been black but when I come back you'll know, know, know
I ain't got the time and if my daddy thinks I'm fine
He's tried to make me go to rehab, I won't go, go, go

I'd rather be at home with Ray
I ain't got seventeen days
'Cause there's nothing, there's nothing you can teach me
That I can't learn from Mr. Hathaway

I didn't get a lot in class
But I know we don't come in a shot glass

They tried to make me go to rehab, I said, "No, no, no"
Yes, I've been black but when I come back you'll know know know
I ain't got the time and if my daddy thinks I'm fine
He's tried to make me go to rehab, I won't go, go, go

The man said, "Why do you think you here?"
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/a/amy-winehouse-lyrics/rehab-lyrics.html ]
I said, "I got no idea"
I'm gonna, I'm gonna lose my baby
So I always keep a bottle near

He said, "I just think you're depressed
Kiss me, yeah baby and go rest"

They tried to make me go to rehab, I said, "No, no, no"
Yes, I've been black but when I come back you'll know, know, know

I don't ever wanna drink again
I just, ooh, I just need a friend
I'm not gonna spend ten weeks
Have everyone think I'm on the mend

And it's not just my pride
It's just 'til these tears have dried

They tried to make me go to rehab, I said, "No, no, no"
Yes, I've been black but when I come back you'll know, know, know
I ain't got the time and if my daddy thinks I'm fine
He's tried to make me go to rehab, I won't go, go, go
