I don't like Sidehackers. So sue me.

No Final Sacrifice? No Eegah? NO EEGAH??? Come on!

I even bought a Roxy brand bag so I could whine "R-o-o-o-o-o-o-x-i-e" every time I carry it.

No Zombie Nightmare? (Of course I"m a bit partial to that one since it's where I got my Fark handle).

Oh yeah, and I'm probably the last person to know about this, but did y'all know there's a Manos game for the iPad? It has cameos from Tom and Crow and nobody told me!

Hell, I'd be here all day listing them. Miss MST3K so much, least I have all of Seasons 7-10 and an assortment of episodes on tape-to-DVD.

are the dvds worth re-watching?

They were originally VHS recordings made before MST3K went off the air put onto DVDs more than a decade later, but they're mostly in good shape and perfectly watchable. Only the Sci-Fi seasons are in order, though, all the rest were taped when Comedy Central was repeating them in random order.

hokiethug1992: what to do on a date and home economics.

Space Mutiny. "Look ALIVE, every--oh, sorry, Susan."

you are a puppet: I don't really know the names of titles, but my favorites are Puma Man and the one where a time traveler goes back to the Revolutionary War. Jack Frost is good, Space Ghost, and there's a beach monster one I enjoy but can't say much more than that except it led to Mike wearing a tiny speedo.

There's one where a woman says "My tray-sure!" and they riff on it for the rest of the movie...I still think about that when I hear the word treasure, measure, etc.

I had a professor as an undergrad who, while otherwise sounding like a relatively well-educated and fairly articulate woman on a good day, pronounced treasure as" tray-zure" . It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time I heard it come out of her mouth. I might not have cared, or even known, about her hillbilly affectation, if it weren't for the unfortunate fact that the play we worked on that semester was, yes, Measure for Measure.

Some of my favorite bits I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Deathstalker: the funeral scene with the Potato Girl

Agent For H.A.R.M.: "Meet me at the judo range." "Then practice your skeet kendo, and bring your akido rifle, too."
"Are you coming, or do I swim alone?" "Yes, and yes."
Plus all the Prince riffs and Crow's video testimony

Night of the Blood Beast, Thanksgiving version. The host segments feature Drunk Jack Perkins, Mr. B Natural, the Kitten With A Whip, etc. Plus Crow and Servo's debate on stuffing vs. potatoes.

Riding with Death will always be my favorite. I have some of the 1st season episodes and there is one that is pretty good: Moon Zero Two. It's a straight 1960s Sci-fi flick. Very late 1960s. You can see traces of Austin Powers in it. And the theme is catchy.

But, anyway:

Riding with Death
Space Mutiny (The argument over the end credits is the best part when the bots taunt Mike about the '80s)
Warrior of the Lost World (when the bike starts talking, Servo's "Is it too late to kill myself" in that resigned tone kills me everytime)
Mitchell (Veins throbbing, Mitchell! Heart poundin'!)
Cave Dwellers (first one I saw, the bit at the end where Crow points out continuity errors is great)

and on and on. Amazon Prime has some of the episodes but I know somebody that has everything on his computer. Everything.

I also have a box of tapes but no VCR. I simply cannot bring myself to get rid of them.

Oh, and the short about Shop class. Goddamn, I still bust a gut laughing.

browntimmy: So in this era of 1000 channels and everyone gets a TV show why isn't this or something like this on TV now?

I think the reason for no MST3K is that the rights issues are too much work for most networks to want to deal with it, since they have to worry about the rights to MST3K as well as each individual movie.

There are still a few B-movie shows with hosts in syndication, but they're a dying breed. Elvira has a revival her show that started a couple years back. I don't know if it's still going since I never got the show in my area anyway. There's also Svenghoulie on MeTV that has a similar structure of crappy movies with host segments throughout. It mostly uses the Universal Films catalog of titles.

Pretty much.

When MST3K first began airing, they were able to get the rights to the movies they riffed on the cheap, because the films were either in public domain, or worthless to the rights holders. But, because of MST3K, the movies once again had value, which is why the shows are no longer aired on TV, and why DVD rights have become a biatch to obtain for the companies releasing the DVDs. So, when announcements are made like the titles for the upcoming Volume 25 set, which includes movies from both Universal and MGM, it's a big deal, because until now all of the titles from those companies were thought to be unobtainable because MST3K made the movies worth something again and the major companies either don't want their movies mocked by the cow town puppet show, or want more money than can be afforded by Shout to license the movies out.

The rights issue is also why Cinematic Titanic uses movies strictly from the public domain, and why Rifftrax is audio files or PD Shorts and films only.

I remember the rejoicing when the Gamera set was announced, and how long MST3K: The Movie was out of print. The copyrights issue is unfortunate. Too bad we'll never see a complete mega boxset for MST.

Thank goodness for the Digital Archive Project. I have all of MST, including most of the KTMA year, yet still try to make a point to buy the DVD sets as they're released.

Hagbardr: KTMA: City on Fire

If only because I saw that movie un-MSTed, and for the great "dramatic" talent of one Leslie Nielsen.
"Shelley Winters plays the building"

Miss Stein: Must give props to my favorite short: Junior Rodeo Daredevils.

I like A Date With Your Family (The Woody Allen Story!)

Apollonia James: Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. I appreciate a good movie that just randomly hates on anteaters.

And with a NAME like that.... don't you need to reconst some flavo fibes?

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: The only one I'm reluctant to watch is The Castle of Fu Manchu.

You still have that opinion? The riffing saved it if you asked me. I watched it for the first time in a Saturday Fark thread and I LOVED IT. Perhaps the 10 minute version is best for most fans.

Bathia_Mapes: Glad to see my all-time favorite, "The Creeping Terror" (Show 606) on there, even if it's under, "And if you like those, here are 10 more".

Yeah, seriously. It needs more love. "He can't wait to get home to those 2 scoops of raisins."

iheartarchimedes: I always thought I saw Red Zone Cuba at least 5 times but bighairyguy swears it was just once. That movie is like a slow train to hell. Every farker should see it to prepare for their trip. Srsly.

More like a slow NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNDO FINE, amirite? YOU SHOVE OFF!

JonBuck:
I saw that movie un-edited and un-MSTied on a justin.tv channel one night. They chopped out a lot of it for the episode, but it makes even less sense. The hero is Iron Sharp, not Space Chief. The children sing.

I saw OVERDRAWN AT THE MEMORY BANK un-MSTed on justin.tv. The movie actually makes a lot more sense, but don't worry, it's still very riff-able.

Thank you for mentioning Escape 2000. I thought it would not get any love here.

Presumably that keeps anyone else from getting in the game too, since the rights holders of even the worst crap made probably think it can be valuable with Mike and the Bots.

A Complete MST3K Mega box set... hell, even a complete season, would probably be so expensive only the most dedicated hardcore fans would buy it.

When they got the rights to MST3K, Shout Factory reportedly did look into other ways to release MST3K. In the end, they stuck with Rhino's 4 movies per box format, because it was the only one that could be done in a way that would be affordable for fans, and profitable for Shout. And Shout has pulled out some real MST3K Miracles since they got the rights to release the show. Gamera, Final Sacrifice, now a Universal movie... at one time, all these titles were considered unreleasable, and in the case of Gamera, even Shout didn't think they had a chance in hell of getting that done.
