Remember when 1 Hour photo was a big deal?

That picture was taken less than 30 minutes ago on another motherfarking PLANET.

Science is AWESOME.

mr lawson: To put thinks in perspective.. Curiosity total cost 2.5 billion to design, launch, land, and operate a rover on Mars. Facebook paid 1 billion for a website that makes pictures look stupid.

Hey those first pictures back would've been a lot better if they were tilted a little and had a sepia filter.

What a horrible disaster, typical government socialism can't do anything right.

This should have been private industry doing what only they can do best

All you NASA supporters hate America and the free market that Jesus setup!

Langdon_777: What was that ~ "Anyone from the NSA, you should this the fly over"? Or something like that ... hehe maybe too much shown on the live footage (fast editing going on at the mo ;-)

He was talking about the target location. I think there is some real good news, like they stuck the landing right where they wanted it.

"Yeah, we're good"
"Ok log off and have a drink, just don't hit shutdown"
"Oh crap"

Congrats to the NASA JPL team for pulling off what could have been a domino of technological nightmares. Moving essentially a VW beetle 350 million miles and landing by using completely automated software because of the 7 minute signal delay. This is a moment that shows what is probable and expands what is possible.
