I know how bad they are, but dammit, I still liked the first three.

That said, I thought the fourth was actually horrendous to the point of being unwatchable.

Jeez, how many of them are there? They don't number them but it seems like they put one out every 6 months. Underworld too.

No apology for their quality is needed.

Seperate them from the games and they're fun. Also, Milla is great in bed, except after she's spent she has a nasty habit of letting one rip, it wouldn't be so bad but she always looks over at me with that "what you gonna do about that?" face....

I liked the RE movies.

I saw this yesterday when I went to see Total Recall they showed it before the movie but I clicked on play anyway because in the description Bleeding Cool says

"There's a tiny bit of fan service at the front"

I was always under the impression that "fan service" meant a naked lady in the shower or something like that.

Bleeding Cool is now on my list.

No apologies needed These movies are Saturday matinee bag of popcorn entertainment not Citizen Cain or The Grapes of Wrath.

Besides what objection could there be to seeing this on the screen?

The Resident Evil movies were pretty good as long as you consider them to be comedies. They have a Plan 9 From Outer Space sort of unintentional hilarity to their awfulness.

2012-08-05 10:29:56 AM
I know these movies are pretty much mindless fun/eye-candy, but I still can't get over the fact that the world is near extinction, civilization has collapsed, yet somehow a company that should be crippled financially and in terms of labor is still making huge leaps in technological advancement and manufacturing.

So when is the Resident Evil/Underworld crossover happening? Alice vs ...whoever Kate Beckinsale is. The death dealah. It could be like the Avengers. In the first half of the film they fight, preferably in various viscus substances. Then they....cooperate. with each other. Repeatedly.

2012-08-05 10:37:17 AM
They're mindless action/horror movies with good looking actors. I'm not sure what you expect from them, subby?

I dunno, I'm a fan.
/ don't like the video games, though

Why would they be crippled in terms of labor? They have secure labs provisioned with food water etc . They do not need to pay their labor force with monehy, just provided them with a secure place food and water they already have stockpiled. If you want to eat you work for them. Problem is when those stockpiles run low. In the last movie they had reports from the other "Hives" about dwindling food supplies.

Then you don't want to play the Bioshock series. Underwater world taken over by people splicing DNA and turning into monsters and yet somehow the vending machines remain stocked.

Good point. I don't know. It just seems like in every sequel the bad guys have better and fancier weapons, spotless super hi-tech lairs, cooler cutting edge haircuts and even more expensive designer clothes when it should be the opposite. But I just have to let that go, it's Resident Evil.

They obviously have 3D printers in space or something.

Meh, I'm not gonna lie that I get butthurt because they took a horror adventure game with an interesting story and turned it into a mindless action movie with zombies and an x-women. It could have been something better, or at least a bit more coherent. Never been a fan of taking a name from a videogame and totally reinventing it.

I'm also really butthurt the Milla still banging that hack Paul WS Anderson, who basically made this franchise so the family has a constant paycheck. They make them cheap, and pocket a ton of cash.

The games turned out the same way too. 4, 5, and 6 were more action and eye candy then survival horror.

I don't think Ada has been in any of the movies yet.

I loved the first Resident Evil. I thought they did a pretty good job with it personally, one or 2 decent jump moments and the plot was actually pretty interesting if not a bit overused with the amnesia mechanic. It wasn't the game but they managed to craft something that was original on its own and still feel like RE

The drop in quality after the first one was down right frightening. Not that RE1 was a perfect or even great movie but at least it felt they were on the right path. The second I saw Mike Epps in the sequel I knew the series was in trouble. I decided to watch the third one and said "never again". I dont mind mindless action if its at least done well. They are pretty much sci-fy movies at this point.

The trick to having a career with minimal talent/effort (although admittedly great looks) by Kate Beckinsale and Milla Jovovich:

Marry a movie director/producer that will make a series of movies with you as the kickass protagonist.

Too bad Jessica Biel couldn't find a partner like that.

Which is why I gave 4 a chance, traded 1:1 at no cost for 5 then traded it out, and am not bothering with 6. I'm been disappointed with Capcom lately, especially their mistreatment of their legacy IP's, and their total lack of innovation. They've turned into Activision-East.

It never ceases to amaze me that some people will start a series in the middle.

Not that Resident Evil deserves an award, but still...

This. Plus it seems like Milla's not willing to get naked anymore which adds to the unwatchability factor exponentially. Bummer.

Ya I was in the camp where I had to see the 4th just because I'd seen all the others but after how bad it was I'm wondering if that need hold true for the 5th.

First was absolutely great I thought. 2nd was a decent way to kill time. I'm also just sick of "haha you thought those were the people in charge of umbrella corporation... now deal with the super-duper execs! Okay fine but now handle the super-duper-DUPER execs!"

I saw the trailer on TV the other day for this and it looks pretty bad. The bits with Wesker(?) made me laugh. It looks like they're pushing harder to have recognizable characters from the games, down to the outfits. Though Ada Wong does look pretty cute at least.

I'd go see a Bioshock film if they made it. As long as it didn't star The Rock.

Where are they hosting this video? I put the damn thing on pause and it took almost 10 minutes to preload a 2 1/2 min long video.

that there is why I'll never stop watching the movies. She is soooo hot!

I got to meet her and Ali Larter at WonderCon a couple years back. Even more beautiful in real life.

I love these movies, I don't care. They are nothing like the games, and in a way I am thankful for that.

The only sad I has with the fifth is that apparently Ali Larter will not be back. Supposedly her character and the Chris Redfield character will be back for the 6th and final movie...

Really? She used to not be able to keep her clothes on in anything. The Fifth Element was one of the last PG-13 movies I can recall with nudity. I wonder why. Her boobies are way to small to ever sag with age.

Before she was an action hero she was the girl with no lines in Dazed and Confused. Didn't get naked in that though.

She had a kid. I've found that a lot of naked people start to get un-naked once they have kids.

Eh, oh well. She should pass on her free spirited pro-nudity ways to girls like Jessica Alba who will probably never take off their gear no matter how much the script calls for it.

Despite what so many say about the original RE movie, it had its moments. It wasn't nearly as bad as some game movies (*cough*uwe boll*cough*) and had a number of good scenes. I wasn't really thrilled to see the Licker as a 'boss' battle though, there were multiple Lickers in RE2, but just the one in the first movie that was released?

Oh yeah, and the scene at the end made it worth the price of admission.

For Fox sake, it's a movie franchise based on a video game franchise. It's not Shakespeare or Heinlein, people.

/of course it isn't Heinlein, nobody would make movies of his books in this culture...

None from me. By the way, that shot was taken on Yonge St in Toronto on 11/13/2011. My wife and I were in the lobby of a small hotel just outside that frame. It was hilarious to walk out of the hotel and see NYC subway signs on the metro entrances.
