gilgigamesh: Money that you spend at chick-fil-a goes to groups like the family research council, groups which have lobbied to criminalize homosexuality and that try to "cure" gay kids of their sexual orientation.

If you find that kind of thing abhorrent, don't give them your money. This is America. There is plenty of crappy, non-evil fast food chicken out there.

Forgive me for not wanting my money to go to blatant medical quackery.

I took the money I would normally spend at Chic-fil-A, and had a delicious meal at Abners last night. It beats them by ...well, there's not even a comparison.

Hell. Zaxbys and Popeyes have better chicken.

I realize it's tough to track these kinds of obscure facts down, requiring at least 15 seconds worth of Google time.

It must be tough for you to read the thread and find out that this has been pointed out already. But if you had read the thread, it would have gotten in the way of your ego.

Ahh, scamming money out of the gullible. A time-honored lawyer activity.

-Pay him $1.
-He takes $0.20 flat out.
-Promises to pay 80% "after expenses"
-Well hell, stamps are $0.45 apiece now.
-And the envelope, that's another $0.10.
-Have to pay someone to write that check, and that'll be me, and I charge $0.20 per check written.
-And the check itself needs to be replaced, so that costs another $0.04, by my estimates
-Oh the glories of running a middle-man company.

The only people who will use this website are fat, lazy types with no moral fiber who want to convince their friends what great people they are. They're not.

Because people are stupid, it's a genius idea though, heck if he's really smart he will donate to a group he creates that takes another 20% off the top.

Yup. There is no offsetting the money Chik-fil-a sends to hate groups. Those groups are still getting money and yodeling their idiocy no matter how much money you're also giving to pro-gay groups. Just frigging eat at Cane's, y'all.

It's the reverse for me - their fries are decent (not good enough to keep on patronising them in spite of the asshole owner, but not terrible) but their chicken is farking rancid. Then again, I'm not big on pickles.

OscarTamerz: Here's an interesting article on Amazon, it says Amazon gives virtually nothing to United Way when Microsoft and Boeing gave 4 and 3 million $ last year. Amazon is a bigger company than Boeing too.

Amazon had the "young company, no products" excuse. Boeing makes those donations so they don't have to pay taxes, and to keep a good public image. Microsoft makes those donations to have a public image other than the blue screen of death. Amazon is a store. Their public image is that they sell things, which people buy.

All the KFCs near me have become combo KFC / Taco Bell or KFC / A&W... so I either get undercooked greasy fried chicken with a side i didn't ask for, or overcooked dry fried chicken, but a great big mug of root beer.

From the pics in the article I wish gay groups would work out a schedule so at every chicken filet there was a gay couple making out hard by the entrance.

While I think the CFA is overblown it's pretty terrible to be so dismissive of civil rights struggles. Not to worry though, the cracks are already in the dam. Once the boomers really start dying in larger numbers I think we'll have greater equality all around: blacks, women, gays, etc.

Question for farkers, where did the chick fil a guy supports the death penalty for gays in Uganda thing come from? I tried googling it but got a bunch of partisan websites I was having trouble trusting, dailyKos and breitbart and so on, I don't suppose I am lucky enough for there to be a cogent article on

The Chick-fil-A guy donated nearly $2 million to groups that sent these guys to Uganda to rail against gays just before that country introduced the gay death penalty bill.

I believe that Fritz Goodwin invented offsets for people profiting from the industry around death camps in Germany. Those 2.000.000 ReichMarks bought a large bucket (depending on head size) and enough sand to fill it with head nicely hiding there.

How about you muster the will to not jam your fat farking face with fast food chicken in the first place.

2012-08-05 09:59:22 AM
Ok, now someone needs to turn this around to play the other side of the CFA foolishness. Which should be easy enough: the people buying an unwanted product just because they like the politics of the guy selling it are clearly even more foolish than the people not buying a desired product just because they oppose the politics of the guy selling it.

So how about this:

Attention wingnuts: Some of you want to "appreciate" Chick-Fil-A's intolerance, but may be unable or unwilling to actually buy/eat CFA. If you send me your CFA appreciation money, 80% after expenses will be used to purchase food from CFA. Relax as I make some effort* to get it consumed! Get a receipt* to show your friends! *additional charges may apply for effort or receipt

Lsherm: "I posted on Facebook that donating money to gay rights causes did a heck of a lot more good than depriving Christian groups of $0.0001 by boycotting Chick-fil-A," Frank tells The Huffington Post. "A friend joked 'Chicken offsets' in response, the domain name was open, and someone else would've come up with the idea if I didn't execute."

It's a great idea. You get to eat the chicken with a clear conscience.

Why not? Selling "carbon credits" sure made everyone feel warm and fuzzy about global warming.

If you really think this is a good idea then please stop criticising the Church of England about their sale of "sin offsets".

How about just forget about it, like that time with your cousin behind the garage..,

2012-08-05 10:03:12 AM
Just eat somewhere else; pretty much every fast food joint serves a chicken sandwich at this point. Does anybody really love Chick-fil-A so much that they have a crisis of conscience over it? I've eaten there (before I knew it was a Klan front), and it was okay I guess, but Klan-activity notwithstanding I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

Yeah we can't seem to go a single thread without somebody railing about the Church of England's sin offsets. It's a major subject of outrage that the mods have to diligently watch out for on a daily basis to make sure the flamewar doesn't spread to every thread on the site.

There are issues that I am principled about but Gays ain't one of them. Neither is abortion. The more someone tries to preach to me about either of those the more they push me to the opposite end of the spectrum as themselves.

Chick-fil-A didn't need a solution, they were never having any issues. They don't need to donate to anyone and their profits are soaring because of the gay groups attacks on them, they're alreasy win-win. If they remain under fire I just may buy stock in them.
