Considering the numerous ups and downs in his long career, he seems a natural to be an american hero.
And if Mitt wants a bust of Winston, he can just have some Chinese make a duplicate.

He couldn't plan military operation for sh*t, so that should definitely endear him to Republicans.

I really wonder what he'd have to say about Romney.
I don't think it would be complimentary.

As soon as the war ended, the Brits dumped him and passed national health care, a fact not lost on the GOP loonatics.

Why is this one the Politics Tab?

With Mitt Romney promising to ask for the Churchill bust to be returned to the Oval Office, from where it was unceremoniously expelled by President Obama in his first week in office

Aw fark. Not this shiat again.

To use them for political outrage much like the supposed Ground Zero mosque that wasn't a mosque and wasn't at ground zero?

With so many Brits, French, Aussies and Kiwis dead on the shores of Gallipoli, which was Churchill's clusterfark, his legacy would have been completely tainted if it wasn't for WW2. His leadership after the fall of France redeemed him.

hurdboy: For modern hipsters -- that he drank gin instead of vodak.

Gin was more or less the most popular liquor in the US in the late 1800s until prohibition made whiskey more popular (no imported components, easier to make) and then WW2 hijacked the distilleries to make things like torpedo fuel instead and all that was left to drink was beer.

That's right, the primary reason beer is popular in the modern US is Hitler. You're welcome for this thing you really didn't want to know.

Why would he need honorary citizenship if his mother was American?

bhcompy: Why would he need honorary citizenship if his mother was American?

Most first-world nations won't let dual citizens hold office above a certain level, either officially or unofficially via pointing out that someone's actually a foreign citizen being a campaign-breaker. I would imagine he forswore any claim to US citizenship somewhere along the road to leading the UK's government.

//Hadn't heard the bit about his mother before, mainly because as an American I'm somewhat allergic to caring about the ancestry of public officials. This is a tradition that I think a certain segment of the US population would be well-served to re-adopt, though that's something for another thread, I guess.

He also had no belly button because he had his appendix removed and it was removed during his operation.

/or so the internet has led me to believe
//Nixon started it; Nixon declared war on his own citizens; what are you going to do about it?
//tinyurl.com/1mn

.it's not a war on (some) (natural, safe drugs) it's a war on plants to replace outlawed slave labor with prison labor
..shut up and think

Um, no. Not by a long shot. You meant lighter beers, as Rosie the Riveter had not had the reason to be out late at night, much less drinking a beer, on a weeknight.
Beer was very popular, and the making of same was a hobby of most of the Founders.
Many also distilled . Prohibition hurts so many brewers, as did ww2 for the mostly male consuming customer base.Sure- thanks to that austrian idiot- we get stuck with most mass produced with less and less malt, but- thankfully- many many craft beer breweries survive and thrive, and thats just because we have always loved good beer. And Whisky

Unfair. Gallipoli failed due to the intransigence of the Royal navy.
