Clever. Campaign for one of his fellow VP candidates so that he looks like the smart one.

These Upper Class Twit Finals get better each year.

Jindal doesn't need scientific instruments to predict an eruption of support for Ryan.

I thought it was PIYUSH ""Bobby"" 'whar teh birth certificate?' Jindal. You know, with the caps and quotes for effect.

Or is that a Presidential only thing?

I suppose technically speaking, Jindal is correct. There are a few things that are worse than Paul Ryan.
Not many, but a few.

I have it on the good word of republican friends on Facebook that the Chick Fil A appreciation day turnout was an early indication of the future election results. So, sorry to ruin your victory party, but, well, you know.

John McCain certainly did.

Ryan's main problem is that he's actually taken a position on things, and a rather radical one at that.

But, personality-wise, he's the best choice.

Never mind 2012. For all you younguns who voted for Obama in the 2008 primaries because the only thing you've ever known was Bush-Clinton-Bush, look out for 2016. Hillary vs. Jeb Bush. Then you'll have no choice but for a Bush or a Clinton.

Very possible. There was a lot of smooth-talking to the RON PAUL camp just to get them to call off the RON PAUL fanatics from monkeywrenching the convention.

Not liking a Rand Paul VP pick even worse. Even Sarah Palin didn't send out goons to stomp on the heads of her opponents, afiak.

Nah ... he's an anchor baby ...

Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Amar and Raj Jindal, who came to the United States as immigrants from Punjab, India, six months before he was born.

Paul Ryan would be a terrible choice.

It would put the Ryan plan front and center into the discussion. Mitt has been doing EVERYTHING he can to distance himself from stating any specific policy in his campaign. Granted, I have read he's been saying in private to people who give cast sums to his SuperPac that he's essentially Ryan style conservative, but when asked publicly on these things he always refuses to state his position because it will be attacked by Obama (his words, no mine).

He knows damn well, the Ryan plan would fail to get past independent voters, just like Ryan's social security "reform" got shot down for the same reason.

I'm reading that Ryan's budget has just 41% support, in a certain group of Republican districts, with no description other that the fact that it cuts spending. When described, in Ryan's own language, support drops to 34%. (polling is in the 56 most competitive Republican held districts) I'd supply a URL, but I can't see the whole thing on my phone at once.

He's going to pick an unknown person. Someone who can benefit from the attention. All the people who think they have a reputation to uphold, or a political future, will decline the nomination. Everyone knows Romney is the sacrificial lamb that is going to lose the battle against Obama. That's why there wasn't any strong candidates for the the actual Presidency, let along strong candidates for the VP slot. All the losers of the primary race are already not even considered for the VP slot. Acting like its a close race will actually just help Obama's voters turnout for election day.

2012-08-05 05:58:32 AM
Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if Romney failed to find anyone.

2012-08-05 06:00:02 AM
I am going to go with the theory that Jindal wants to someday become relevant in national politics and knows if he ends up swept up in the Romney campaign this year the defeat for the pair will be so humiliating that he will never again hold office of any significance.

So he short circuits any talk of him being considered as a running mate preemptively without realizing that there is no way he will ever become nationally relevant in the GOP because he is a bit on the "ethnic" side.

/of course this is the same idiot who has no use for volcano monitoring, so I do expect I am giving him too much credit.
