I nearly went apeshiat when NBC broke away from the 800-m swimming to promote their shows and broadcast political ads; and I'm not even an avid fan. Fark you, NBC.

Well, the event was longer than six minutes, so they CAN'T show you the whole thing. Look! A goldfish!

That Cze/Brazil BVB match just finished was pretty intense. Big upset too....in my pants.

really, they cut away at like 2:30 and returned three minutes later. The American was in contention to set a WR and they go, "The dramatic conclusion of the women's 800 right after this."

Seriously, fark NBC. Fark them so hard.

"american allstar team of individual gold medalists......"

One of these words is not like the other.....

The ending to the 10km was pretty intense. Can you imagine running that far, then pouring it on hard at the end?

Nothing like watching hours of self promotion. Fark you NBC.

Great day for Great Britain. The greatest Olympic day in their history. Six Gold Medals. Big congrats to the British Olympic Team and all our British Farkers

What got me...is IT IS A TAPED EVENT? THEY COULD HAVE JUST BROUGHT IT BACK AT THE EXACT TIME THEY LEFT IT!

I'm watching the Pro Football HOF ceremony since it is down the road (I technically snubbed Vinny Testaverde today). Wonder if they'll show Blade Runner in primetime.

It was impressive to watch. I think you were in the spoilers thread, but I figure this should be in the earlier post. Everyone should go right now and watch the last 5-10 minutes of the woman's triathlon. That was intense.

They showed him live or almost live around lunch time eastern.

BTW the round format sucks, instead of the semi-finals being when they're down to 16 runners with the top 4 from each going to the final, the semi-final is now when they have 32 runners and only the top to 2 go to the final.

I would call you out for spoilers, but being that they're Brits and this is NBC, chances are we won't see them tonight anyway.

Okay guys, help me. When you say "go watch the --- " (e.g. triathlon, 10km, whatever), where do I find that? Are there clips available on NBC.com or do I have to hope to find it elsewhere?

2012-08-04 08:22:02 PM
One thing to watch out for: If you have a false start, you're out. No second chance. Doesn't matter if you're the favorite to win a medal. False start? Go home.

So if you have cable, it's on nbc's olympics site. If you don't, download expat shield and head over to the bbc site and watch it there.

Nobody wants to "show too much" today? WTF? It's not a chess match. It's a sprint.

The strategy to win is not a big secret....run faster than everyone else.

Why waste energy going faster than you need to to advance?

Bolt showed everything anyone else needs to know. He can run 10.09 without even stretching his legs out enough to get his full stride length, or putting forth anything that can be described as real effort. What does the rest of the field know now? "We're doomed".

Yeah, but you don't want to pour it on so hard that you hurt yourself, or be so fast out of the block that you false-start and get eliminated.

2012-08-04 08:37:00 PM
Bolt took roughly the same number of steps as everyone else in that heat. When he set the world record, he was taking about 12 steps less than everyone else. That's how long his strides are.
