A burglary suspect who tried to break into a Lauderdale Lakes apartment using a blowtorch caused a small fire

You DON'T say.

Sisson tried to make his way into the apartment while carrying the blowtorch and a knife.

I would like to think that the knife was for sandwich-making purposes.

Shortly thereafter, Sisson allegedly used the knife to damage a 2004 blue Volvo parked in the apartment complex lot.

Hang the monster.

I think it was just one of these things:

Probably not one of the fancy Medeco ones though.

Dunno what is with idiots trying to get through the most secure part of a door. Seriously, just remove the pins from the hinges and avoid the lock entirely. Or, you know, kick a hole in the drywall next to the door.

A blow torch will never get a door open. Pretty sure you would need a cutting torch. Also makes for a bigger hotter fire.

The author hasnt the faintest idea of what a blowtorch is.

That method only works when you're already on the inside where the hinges are, you know?

The hinges are on the inside. There is siding on the wall next to the door.
Go for a window.

Yes, they are generally on the inside in residential buildings, I was thinking commercial. This was an apartment, so probably just drywall, though who knows, maybe cinder blocks. Even those are easier then a solid wood door, hammer makes quick work of them.

Even apartments tend to have siding on the outside to better withstand weather. A lot of smaller apartments only have exterior entrances.

Grandpa's house is cinderblock, but while taking a hammer to them would quickly do a lot of damage you're not going to get in that way; the hollows have rebar and poured concrete in them.
