DRTFA, but the idea that a government agency could manage to put together an entire ad campaign in two weeks in response to something is laughable. Coincidental, and hilarious.

Yup, now that the LGBT community is no longer eating at Chik-Fil-A, Amtrak is sure to see a rise in usage...what?

Huh.

It's almost as if the government doesn't subscribe to the bigoted beliefs of fringe religious groups.

Like there's a separation or something....

Relatively Obscure: Wait. You mean to tell me that my money went toward trying to make a gay person feel welcome somewhere?! The horror!

I'd prefer a more brutally honest ad campaign.

Amtrak: We don't care if you're gayi. You can ride us anytime!

Maybe if the article mentions how Amtrak is taxpayer-funded some more, I'll get mad. Last I checked, DOMA didn't read "The government shall never, under any circumstances, acknowledge the existence of homosexuals."

FTFA-
docwhocuts: "To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful & tyrannical."-Jefferson ...

Maybe he'll get a do-over and put something, anything, in the constitution forbidding the government from sticking a finger in controversy.

Yes, because nation-wide print campaigns targeting a specific demographic with highly stylized portrat photography are always knocked-out overnight. That's how graphic design works; we have a big button on our keyboards called "Farking Instant Magic and shiat."

Are you saying homosexuality is a religion? If not, I don't see the comparison. A better analogy would be if Amtrak targeted single people or married couples to ride the train, and I would have no problem with that either.

If you want biatch about Amtrak, maybe you can complain about something legitimate like having a 16 dollar overhead for a burger.

Looks like FCW got a bunch of liberal panties tied up in knots.

The Chick Fil A thing isn't about hating GLBT people, it's about free speech. Getting all butthurt because some CEO somewhere likes traditional values isn't going to accomplish anything. Granted, it happens all the time, but this one went crazy and the resulting backlash was no surprise.

If those of you who disagree don't like Chick Fil A want to start up your own chicken sammich chain that only serves the GLBT population, go right ahead, no one is stopping you. Chicago, Boston, San FranCrisco, and other bastions of liberalism will probably even give you the money to build it. You can even make the name similar to Chick Fil A, just to tick them off. You could call it Chick Fil AIDS.

Besides, the "free" speech was to the tune of 1.7 million dollars in 2009 to groups that do their best to deny equal rights to American citizens.

As a christian who enjoyed Chik Fil-A, I refuse to eat there anymore. Not because Cathy Truett spoke his mind, but because he donates money he made from profits from his business towards causes I absolutely disagree with.

I agree that's a bit much.

I just find it funny that conservatives are calling a boycott of Chick-Fil-A an assault of their First Amendment rights while just last month, these same folks were calling for a boycott of Oreos because they had an ad supporting gay pride.

But then again, Conservatives always seem to find a way to be hypocritical so I shouldn't be surprised right? ;)

During the interview Adkisson stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of major media outlets. Adkisson made statements that because he could not get to the leaders of the liberal movement that he would then target those that had voted them into office. Adkisson stated that he had held these beliefs for about the last ten years
