drewogatory: When I worked in the industry, I was always amused by the time and expense (thousands upon thousands of $$$ usually) folks would go thru to earn a slot on these huge formation skydives. It's almost always a complete clusterfark, run by folks who take this shiat far too seriously, and completely meaningless to anyone who doesn't give a shiat about freefall relative work and a good portion of those that do. Plus, matching outfits alot of the time. For all the cred it gets you, you might as well build the world's largest PB and Banana sandwich or something.

drewogatory: Everyone will have a pre-assigned "flight path" when they turn to track away in basically reverse order to when they linked up (they build outward from a "base"). This will give altitude/distance separation and the higher jumpers will start pulling first. Then everyone just flies the landing pattern in. Often they will have multiple assigned landing areas to reduce traffic as much as possible.
