I see the Democrats are either throwing in the towel in Tennessee, or are attempting to "Out-crazy" the GOP. In either case, though, nothing good will come of this.

When a soi-disant Democrat (wouldn't this guy be more at home among the Publicans?) spews crazy, he gets called on it. When a Publican spews crazy, Fox Izvestia doubles down.

In a November scenario which somehow produces a landslide across the country for Obama, 400+ electoral votes, the Dems win back the house and all the Senate races except 4 (MS, TN, UT & WY) resulting in a 59-41 Dem Senate and a massive majority in the house, they would still have no chance in Tennessee, even with a good candidate. This is a non-story, its a non-competetive race and nobody (sane) wanted to be the sacrificial lamb.

/My dream scenario
//Even in the best case, dream scenario, I still couldn't figure out how dems could get to 60
///Time for the nuclear option. Stuff should only need 50 votes to pass
////Also developed a worst case, GOP can't get 60 either.

Regarding the Texas senate seat, I haven't seen any post-primary polling, and the GOP nominated a real Tea-party whackjob. If the Dems throw some resources at that race, work on getting out in the vote in urban areas, and keeps the President as far away from Texas as possible, I'd put an outside chance on enough mainstream Republicans staying home to make the race competitive. Total outside chance, definitely not likely, but still more likely than TN

Bob Corker is too popular down here so the dems threw whatever idiot that would actually run, against him. Repubs have a stranglehold on almost all the offices here except maybe the congresscritters/mayors of the few liberal enclaves of Knoxville (way more liberal than most people think),Chatanooga, Nashville and Memphis. That will change in a few years when people get tired of their elected officials that are only about gays guns and Jesus and actually want some shiat done (the cirrrrcccllleee of derrrrrpppp), just give it time.

/Tennessean
// Its really not too bad in the urban areas as far as the derp goes.. I swear.
/// If the dems had run a real candidate instead of a corrupt Memphis democratic hack against Corker in the first place he wouldn't be an incumbent.
////Actually spoke with Bob Corker when he came to my college back when he was first running, he's a sharp dude, too bad he plays for the derp side.

THIS DOES NOT WORK. I've seen it fail, up close and personal like.

You want to bring out the voters whose 08 vote was the first time they ever voted, or the first time in decades. You need to get disillusioned Dems who've lost year after year excited again, light a fire. You need to get ground troops out and mobilize all those folks to actually get them out to the polls. Then you need to make damn sure they vote all the way down the ticket, as much as you can.

Any moderate Republican who would be alienated by Obama is not gonna vote for the Dem anyway, and likely isn't really a moderate Republican so f--k the pandering.

Obama has no reason to show up to Texas, but denying his existence is NOT the way to do it.

Corker sucks so it I think Republicans would be better off voting this guy in to embarrass the 'rats. He might agree with the Republicans on some issues so it would make the legislation "bipartisan". And we all know how awesome bipartisanism is!

On top of the cross will be small pointed rods. Lightning strike are usually the size of the object that it strikes so you need the tallest object small.

Via the Tennessean, the Tennessee Democratic party has condemned Clayton, saying in a statement that he is "associated with a known hate group" (a reference to Public Advocate of the United States), and blaming his victory on the fact that his name appeared first on the ballot.

That seems like a plausible explanation, but why are primary voters so uninformed? I'd think that they would be more inclined to actually know just who it is that they're selecting to represent them and their party.

FTA:Mark Clayton believes the federal government is building a massive, four-football-field wide superhighway from Mexico City to Toronto as part of a secret plot to establish a new North American Union that will bring an end to America as we know it.

How the hell could anyone secretly build a four-football-field wide superhighway from Mexico City to Toronto without anyone noticing?

2012-08-04 01:13:44 PM
The primary voters are uninformed because Tennessee is an echo chamber. I live in Chattanooga and never saw so much as a campaign sign for a Democratic candidate. I initially intended to vote in the Republican primary, just so I could have a say in who might actually be representing me. I changed by mind at the last second because I wanted to see who the Democrats were running. I had never heard of a soul. I didn't vote for Clayton, but I easily could have. Right now, there is no opposition party in Tennessee, leading us to a choice between the incumbent Republican and a crazy John Bircher.
