Movie stars who do not share my opinin should STFU.

2012-08-04 12:00:09 AM
Wait, I thought his Super Bowl commercial was liberal propaganda. You know, from a major corporation. Starring an actor known to be a Republican.

IM CONFUS

2012-08-04 12:05:29 AM
I like his films and think he's an excellent director. I just wish he'd shut up about his politics so I don't lose that respect.

2012-08-04 12:07:40 AM
I don't look to entertainers for political advice.

FTFA: Eastwood, 82, said he hoped Romney would restore "a decent tax system that we need badly ... so that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as who's paying taxes and who isn't."

Yeah, Clint... Like Romney is going to do that. The same Romney who won't even release additional tax returns because he doesn't want the voters to see that he's better at avoiding taxes than any of the rest of us will ever be.

2012-08-04 12:19:49 AM

Fark Me To Tears: FTFA: Eastwood, 82, shouted at clouds for the remainder of the day."

FTFY. 82 is probably the operative term in this instance.

Yeah, I like Clint, he's a great actor, great director; never heard anyone who's worked for him who ever had a bad thing to say about him. He's pretty universally well-liked and the consensus seems to be that he's a decent guy who cares about the folks who work for him.
And it's never been a particular secret that he's a conservative.
That said, voting for Mitt because he's going to restore "a decent tax system that we need badly ... so that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as who's paying taxes and who isn't" seems to have no basis in reality.

blithering idiot old people. over-represented as it is. ignorable and will die soon.

I love your movies Clint Eastwood, but you just jumped the shark endorsing a billionaire who is an assh*le.

I don't see that way. Clint's been a Republican forever, NTTIAWWT. I give him credit for just being positive about Romney "he can give the country a boost", and not doing the usual "ZOMG Obama is destructing the country traitor birth certificate worst president ever muslim atheist liberation theology liberal teleprompter ......"

Well, to his credit, he didn't actually say which country needs a boost. He could be talking about China and India...

Sure, credit where credit is due, he's being positive and not going all foaming-at-the-mouth teabagger. I just think he's wrong.

"He just made my day," Romney said. "What a guy."

For Fark's sake, the guy can't even say he's glad of an endorsement without being scripted.

Badly scripted.

I think he's wrong too .... the fact that he is being positive and not all foaming at the mouth teabagger is more of the story than the endorsement.

Damn, dude. I still consider Unforgiven to be the best Western of all time (and one of the best films, period), but fark. Mitt Romney? Really? Mitt farking Romney? That spineless little sh*tstain? Mitt if-he-were-in-one-of-my-films-he'd-be-killed-off-during-the-opening-cr edits Romney?

Dammit Clint, you strike as a seriously cool guy. Level-headed, witty, and of course an incredible filmmaker. This is why your faith in the GOP has always baffled me.

It would mean a lot to me if you just came out and said, "I'm rich. So, you know, I'm gonna vote for the guy who'll look after me." At least that's honest. This "America needs a boost" bullsh*t is just you pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining. A guy as smart as you should know that Romney's plan is to further coddle those who don't need it, at the expense of those who do, which will only further erode demand and create festering resentment. America needs Romney like it needs a fresh pallet of AIDS.

Hmmm..."pallet of AIDS" had predictably few GIS results, so I'm just gonna run with this:

This one time, Obama went on TV and ladies giggled and some slipped out of their seats. The culture of celebrity surrounding 0bama makes a mockery of our political system. It's disgusting.

When the Dixie Chicks say ONE thing, ONE time about the Prez, the Real Americans gathered to throw all their CDs, posters, shirts, etc into a pile and burn them (or, in one case I recall, roll over the pile with a steam roller)

When Ted Nugent talks shiat about our Prez daily he's invited to speak at rallies, write columns, go on the teevee...

What has always struck me as pathetic about conservatives is how they trip over themselves for D-list 'celebrities.' In the same breath they condemn George Clooney muttering something political in an Entertainment Weekly interview, they'll loudly screech about how Victoria Jackson has a new column and you should totally check it out because, Victoria Jackson! If some chick who used to handstands in the early 90s says it, shouldn't you believe it, too?

And damn, have you ever read that stuff? Even the dumbest Farker in the politics tab makes more cogent arguments than Ted Nugent. Yet people eat it up 'cos, you know, THE NUGE!

And yet liberals are the ones with a cult of celebrity? I'm not denying that Hollywood plays a role in Democratic circles. I just want crybaby right-wingers to, for once, assess their own realities before casting aspersions on mine.

An old, rich, white man is supporting the Republican candidate? Wow, I never thought I'd see the day.

"I think the country needs a boost," Eastwood told The Associated Press as he joined other Romney supporters for the private campaign event.

Clint, you moron, under a Democratic president, you'd make even more money.

The real question is this: Who is Jeffrey Combs endorsing?

2012-08-04 04:18:13 AM
What do you imagine Romney would do for the country, Clint? He's a pathological liar, and you can't trust anything he says, but he seems most interested in accelerating the movement of capital out of the country into the hands of a few.

"Fair tax system?" I don't get it. I make a decent middle class wage (luckily). I pay around 28% out of my paycheck, and it is a sizable amount of money. It pays the bills, I can save enough, and I have some disposable income. I don't think, "Damn this unfair tax system!"

At age 48, I think that I benefited greatly from the system, and I owe it back to make sure children today have the same advantages I had growing up in the 1970's and 80's.

I just don't get the arrogance that someone who makes $10 million a year, and has to pay 30% in taxes, and has to get by on the remainder, and feels that all those dead beats are getting my money. What the hell is wrong with these people. Clint, you are 82, you will be dead soon enough, you and your money is a product of the American system, you plow your fair share back into the system, and the system remains strong for those who come after you. It is not about you, and your damn money. It is about empowering the next generation, and it always is.

I hope Clint realizes that the middle class needs money in order to go to the movies. If they don't have money, movies will stop making money. You think Romney is going to step in and buy millions of dollars worth of movie tickets for you?

Clint's a great director, but he has an expressive range from A to Ab.

Note that he didn't say that he payed "Federal income taxes"

It matters when people who don't know how to tie their own shoes listen to other people's opinions. One guy can multiply his "opinion" by an order of magnitude, for no other reason than he made movies or caught a ball or some bullshiat. It's all obvious....but you asked....

What I heard tonight: Mitt isn't saying, no you can't see my taxes. He's saying you can't see them, but I'll tell you what's in them; trust me.

He's not the least bit trustworthy.

Celebrities are free to espouse imbecilic ideas about things beyond their ken, but the media is under no obligation to report it. I'm mad that a news outlet considered it important who an actor supports.

I will never understand how a guy who makes a movie line Gran Torino, which was at least partially about the plight of those left behind in the wake of corporate profit margins, and do a Super Bowl commercial (for a major corporation, granted) that expounds how down and out people are not losers and will find the energy to come back can support a dumbass like Romney who basically exemplifies everything that caused the issues in the first place.

No, I'm not sure I'd that run on sentence was sarcastic or not. I mean, I'm no stranger to celebrities pandering to this or that audience for profit, and maybe it's a testimony to his acting ability, but I genuinely believed he actually understood and cared about that particular audience.

But hey, old, rich, white, lifelong conservative voting for a rich white conservative Republican? Not exactly something to stop the presses over, I guess. Disappointing, because a voice like Eastwood's might actually get a few of the Ensure crowd out there listening to sense.

Clint. Respectfully, you're probably a damn good human being who has helped a lot of people and you have entertained me wth your movies for many house (love the dirty harry series). But for god's sake dude, Romney tied his dog to the top of his car and drove hundreds of miles and then thought it was a big joke. If Obama has done something like that, the idiots would have gone stark raving wild.

Because Republicans aren't the vampires you've hallucinated and they care about helping their fellow man just as much as Democrats do, you miserably ignorant clownfart.

Obviously Eastwood is voting for Romney because of racism, senility, and/or sociopathy, since there's no way any decent person could ever support anyone but Obama.
