Good for the coach, and good for the kid for taking his lesson in stride.

I'm still pissed at a lacrosse team that "Chinese cut" in front of me at a fast food place a few years back. 20 or 30 high school shiats cut in front of the guy in front of me, then let him in front of them, which their coaches pretended not to notice. So good on that coach.

How is giving an attention whore center stage to a captive audience considered a punishment?

it punishes the sheeple that were stupid enough to fly like sheep in a SWA plane. The whole, "print out your boarding pass as soon as you can to board early" is not a way to treat passengers that fly their crummy airline with ugly flight attendants.

I can honestly say that was one of the least sincere sounding apologies I've ever heard.

That's where the restaurant is supposed to do some customer service instead of pretending to be third world and pay attention to who should actually be served next. If the restaurant manager saw that........hell, who am I kidding, no restaurant anywhere stands up for customer service like that. Not even for little old ladies.

/have walked out of places that allowed line jumping
//and told management via corporate why I wasn't coming back
///i'd probably go bell tower in certain parts of the world

true but when kids are forced to do it they might just learn something along the way. Nice to see an adult use an old school method.

Agreed. To totally shame him, make him take the hat off indoors and wear it brim-forward the rest of the time.

Other than people who have physical difficulties needing to go first and last so they don't get jostled, it doesn't matter what order people get on a plane. I could give a fark if I'm first or last or in the middle,

/Flies SW every chance I get. I like that they don't charge for bags. When forced to fly other airlines, nobody has impressed me. They are all flying buses these days.

Really? Ya think?

Worst. Apology. Ever.

I was kind of hoping the air waitress was going to smack him in the head. She looked like she really wanted cock punch the little bastard.

Kudos to the coach.

Meh, apologies won't change anything unless the kid wanted to do it on his own. The change has to come from within or it doesn't mean anything whatsoever.

At least the cabin crew is generally pleasant, if not jovial.

I'm still amused when people rant on about "sheeple" flying SWA. Have these people ever actually seen sheep? Have they not seen how the passengers bunch up at the boarding gates of the other carriers? If they had, they wouldn't be comparing the Southwest passengers to sheep.

Oh, it's just a way to look down on people who are trying to get from A to B with a minimum of expense and hassle? All right, carry on.

Not true. This type of social action is great for "fake it til you make it" transformations. Do little kids really "mean" it the first 1000 or so times that their parents remind them to say "please" or "thank you"? I doubt it - but it's very important for them to practice it. The people to whom their talking feel better for the positive interaction, and a smart kid will learn to feel enjoyment from the act itself.

Apologizing to those whom you have wronged (or on this case, inconvenienced) is always a good thing. Hopefully both the negative emotions from this boy being put on the spot and the positive emotions from the applause when he finished will make this sink in for him.

Saying that displaying good manners with prompting is meaningless is like saying that a workout will be useless if a trainer has to prompt you to do it. The act itself is beneficial regardless of motive and has the power to be transformative.

/practice makes perfect

I generally call line cutters out saying that they are welcome to get in line behind me as long as the rest of the line behind me has no problems with the arrangement. Surprisingly effective if the line cutter ignores the invite but other patrons in line start getting involved.

Get out of the cellar much?

How about "accountibility for one actions". By the way, attention whores believe the world is enthralled with their very presence so generally expect approval- as opposed to disapproval-- when up on stage.

I know flying has become burdensome but you always have a choice....
