It does give me hope that perhaps DFW could get an Olympics one day. The main problem with that is the weather and the fact that Dallas is inland. I'll settle for a Bay Area Olympics though, LA has already had it too many times anyway.

The bay area would be awesome. With Cal, Stanford, Oakland arena/coliseum, Kezar stadium, Pac Bell, candlestick and the shark tank not much would have to be built. Just some updates. Cycling events and the marathon in Napa would be great. I was all for it when Gavin Newsom was trying to get it pushed through.

Since we're doing the Olympic History Channel, here's my CSB:

I went to the '96 Olympics. Stayed in a campground about 45 minutes out of Atlanta and rode the train in each morning. Worked great! I saw about a dozen sports. I was at the Olympic Park the night of the bombing but left kind of early. I woke up the next morning and saw the news about the bombing. OMG! I had no events that day so stayed glued to the TV for hours.

Great experience. Highly recommended.

My favourite moment was Muhammad Ali lighting the torch. It is especially touching for me now that my mom is battling Parkinson's. Atlanta's games were good. I remember the opening ceremony in Utah was odd (they introduced Donnie & Marie as the "first couple of Utah"-wrong!)
