Lol thanks. I miss Limecat. And I was bummed because I never bookmarked the original Clock Spider thread.
I was tempted to link to the thread here where the guy got his you know whats stuck in his chair, but could not imagine explaining that one to my boss on Monday morning. And I'm not so sure it qualifies as a meme.

But it does qualify as quite possibly the funniest thing I ever witnessed on the interwebs.

The StarWars kid didn't accidently leave the camera rolling, he knew full well that the camera was rolling.

That camera was borrowed from the audio/video department at his school.

What he FAILED to do is remove the tape from the camera before returning it to the department. The clerk just so happened to decide to view the tape at a later time and the rest is history.

Ha Ha green.. Also I respect your sites slide show interface! No more reloading the page for each slide.

The Fark Headline suggests you are explaining memes, hence all the unrelated suggestions here. That and there is know your meme for that. It seems like you are more focused on the memes being applied to the CFA issue. I assume this was the request, not to explain memes in general.

Your article looks fine, aside from the pedantic clarification that memes are being used to comment on CFA in this case, then CFA being a meme itself. Meme definition is pretty well clarified by the know your meme site.

You might want a few more supportive images, but I don't know where you would find them (facebook perhaps)

I see meme as a heralded saying, thought, or perhaps, visualized idea, that resonates with an intertubed audience, such that, this created entity takes shape, builds itself within fractured communitites, and creates...

Thus:

A meme is born,

much like a star,

or a blackhole...

From the gas of humanity wired and communicable.

A mind virus, really.

P.S. You're welcome.

Ed Finnerty: You have some bad information early in the article - "meme" is actually pronounced "throat warbler mangrove".

You're a very silly person and I'm not going to interview you.

Yes, i did too. Even when corrected by many people with even deeper internet addiction than I. But now that It has been officially written so clearly that a newscaster could pronounce it, I don't have any excuse.

Is it just me or is it hilarious that a cursory glance at that URL makes it appear to contain the phrase "noodle dick"?

/Freud would have fun with me.
//In a totally non-Sandusky kind of way, I'd hope.

dickfreckle: Albert Lake: Editor's opinion: The funniest ones have always started in the comments at Fark.com

Oh Sweet Jesus, thanks for that! I've had a rough week and really needed a laugh. Fark is to memes what Florida is to old people.

Maybe, but it still has a better signal:noise ratio. As large, comment-driven sites go, it's far and away the smartest. Yes, I said that with a straight face.

No, seriously. Stop laughing at me, dammit.

Plastic.com was effing sweet for awhile. Actual adult conversation and discussion. Slow story turnaround time but that was a good thing - your submissions better have multiple links and be well written or it wasn't gonna show. And well rated people via votes from peers on other comments were the main decision makers on that.

I'm too afraid to check it out again. I do fondly remember a great discussion off a post I titled "God, Schmod, I want my monkey man!" though.

That's a pretty half-assed definition of a meme; what you've described is the media by which memes are transmitted on teh Internets. A meme is the idea behind a lolcat, not the lolcat itself.

That's OK; the headline DID say it was half-assed.

2012-08-04 10:43:59 AM
Your definition of a meme is wrong. A meme is a popular idea. Which is why "Milhouse is not a meme."
