Police found three young children in the couple's home nearby, who were turned over to Child Protective Services.

That's rather sad

But at least the father didn't take them out with him, thankfully. I've read too many stories where the dad murder-suicide everybody. It sucks they'll be in foster care, but they still have an outside shot at a decent life.

Police found the body of 32-year-old Fitsum Abrha Gebretatios lying in a creek near the 600 block of Center Street around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday while they were searching for clues relating to the slaying of Gebretatios's wife, 35-year-old Simret Tekle Woldetensae

Easy for you to say.

Their parents named them via the time-honored "smash your fists on the keyboard" method.

So someone with a gripe against the wife kidnaps the husband in his car. He ties the husband to the pasenger seat with some clear tape and rams the car into the wife He's wearing a football helmet, neck-brace, seat-belt, and has airbags. Meanwhile, the husband is unprotected. Dumps the husband nearby and skips off into the night.

These names appear to be of East African origin, such as Ethiopia or Eritrea.

This whole story is hard to follow. The closest creek is Sugerland Run Stream, but that's over a mile away. How does he run over his wife, smash into a parked car, or two, and then walk a mile to a creek bed and dump his own dying body?

Third party, for sure. Someone made it look like a murder-suicide, when it was a double homicide.

Being in foster care aside, I have a feeling those kids can thank instant karma for having a chance at life. If dear ol' dad hadn't kicked off after his vehicular homicide of their mother, they might have been next.

It was weird to see this developing yesterday afternoon at work.....Women a victim of hit and run....OK it happens....then you hear that they think it's the husband.....ok....marital dysfunction or discord......ok...it happens but hell....you have to figure if you run your wife down in your car they're going to catch you.....ok so later on they say...."Hey we found the wrecked car a few blocks away"....was he drunk? Was it an accident? The car apparently was not just a fender bender but "really violent collision" where it smashed head on in to a parked car and that slammed in to two other cars....(sounds like that was either deliberate or a medical issue) and then when they found the car wrecked he was not there? How the FARK do you walk away from a collision like that?!?!?
Also, looking on Google Maps I can't even see any "creek" (Drainage ditch maybe?) closer than about a mile away and that's a far way to stagger when you've just face planted in the steering wheel or windshield

I read that as the children were dead and in a shallow grave out the back and the police turned 'em over with a shovel.

Because it was a clever set up. The wife actually beat her husband to death and dumped his body in the creek, drives backwards smashing through cars, before jumping out and throwing herself in front of the moving car, which careens a full block before coming to rest. Ruthless devil, that woman.

Way to overly dramatize a mildly curious case that has had little time for investigation.

Exactly. If it were murder/suicide... the husband would have no need to hide his own body. At that point he couldn't be charged for the murder no matter where he killed himself.

Sad all around considering they had 3 kids.
