I want it to be a one-off Olympic sport. Rio only. And then NEVER AGAIN.

Why? Because Rio.

It's certainly more athletic than dressage.

If swimming in 700 events which look the exact same and water polo are olympic events, then I can see pole dancing at least being entertaining.

isn't everything? posting on fark is more athletic than dressage. my brother and i often have joked about when the olympics would add the vertical pole apparatus to gymnastics (or rhythmic gymnastics since music selection is important).

At least most of the female athletes these days already have stripper names so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Destiny, Missy, Misty, Brittany, Cassidy (any name that ends in a 'y' or 'ie'.)

2012-08-03 12:34:21 PM
So they are allowing professional athletes to perform?

2012-08-03 12:37:26 PM
Shouldn't be too hard to redesign those Coke cans with stripper poles.

If they let the Pole dancers compete will they allow the Germans and Japanese also?

2012-08-03 12:55:28 PM
Will they add mechanical bull riding next?

2012-08-03 01:18:04 PM
Would they be judged on the sexiness of the dance or by tricks and length of spins and such?

I also wonder what the age of Olympic pole dancing athletes would be. We already have 15 year old girls jumping around in leotards. Could you image the outcry of some people if there were 16 year old girls competing in this event?

NO RACQUETBALL FIRST YOU ASSHOLES.

2012-08-03 01:48:36 PM
Actually, this could easily be a legitimate competitive sport.

Alrighty then, racquetball will not be first.

See, this is why there are separate artistic and technical scores in gymnastics. I assume pole dancing would have the same.

Hey. There's a point. No raquetball or squash? Those are more popular than a lot of Olympic sports.

It would be sad if they didn't allow professionals.

/and freestyle stripping

Goddammit, no more judged events. That's the last thing the Olympics need.

Though it would be cool to see someone pay the $500 appeals fee in singles.

Don't forget rugby

something on the sceech they would make sliding down an under powdered pole.
And other things that would end with above the waist shots only after a performance.

Pole dancing is as legit a sport as gymnastics and diving.

Personally, I think they all should be removed, but that's just me.

Wasilla Hillbilly: Actually, this could easily be a legitimate competitive sport.

Especially if they scored it in dollars, with $20 being a perfect score.

Ohhh... half-assed the boob squeeze.
Yes, that's a $5 deduction, Stacey

I think breakdancing should be part of the gymnastic events.

2012-08-03 09:44:11 PM
I would support pole dancing if I did not want all judged sports kicked out of the Olympics.

Bye bye gymnastics. Diving. Synchronized diving. Or the worst offender of them all Boxing. All of them get rid of them.

If you want to have judged sports in the Olympics. Every single competitor does the exact same thing, computer rendering is given to the judges they compare them all side by side and rank them, to remove bias.

Boxing still gets kicked out.

Why do you have such strong negative opinions of racquetball? Why do you feel so strongly that it should not be added first?

/ and why couldnt we add both...
// and you REALLY would rather watch racquetball?

Wait...what's the connection here?
