Four firearms, all legal. .22,12 gauge shotgun, what looks to be a single shot pistol and a small to medium hand gun(it may be Chinese copy of russian ww2 side arm, or a BB gun..i'm so angry i can't think of the name) ...HUGE!!! Eleventy111111!!!! WTF? God damn i'm glad i got out of California.
I have a family member who's lived in the same Apt for over 45 years there and has hundreds of firearms he has collected in his life time (And kegs of black powder, i mean kegs like in pirate movies). The day he dies it will be a national news story about a hermit and his "armory"..

*Tokarev..I think its a Tokarev, or a BB gun..It's a single stack magazine, and Cal legal if it is a Tokarev.
There better be a whole lot more to this story...........

Look at those tactical holsters.

This guy was on a mission.

2012-08-03 07:14:19 AM
My dad has about twice that many firearms in his gun cabinet, and he has a bullet reloader.

2012-08-03 07:24:11 AM
Oh my, that is a massive cache. That looks like four more than none.

Apparently, cache is any amount >1

and if you have just 1, it is formally called "OMG, he had a GUN!"

Dude still sounds like a nutter, though.

Your family member is a dick if he has kegs of black powder in a multi-unit building.

Yeah, what was the arrest for? None of those looked like CA illegal stuff. It isn't illegal to have guns in your car in CA. Are they banned from the park or something? Dude is homeless, likely lives in his car and these are probably some of his few possessions he has left.

The police statement of "Obviously any firepower we can get off the street, we'd rather have sooner or later..." looks like they're not likely to return any of them. That's a bit of a dick move.

Only "guns" allowed in San Fran are "cocked and loaded".

That's the *POINT*. They don't want you to have any guns. They are forced to allow that now, what with Heller and McDonald, but they will do whatever they can to screw over gun owners at the retail level, having been forced to concede the wholesale battle-space.

yeah, I know. The police organizations seem to want the police to be the only armed people in the country. From TFA, there's no indication of why they confiscated the guns. Dude's living in his car, where else is going to put them? Also, they had contact with him before, but didn't take them. It is pretty weird.

To be *FAIR*, it's only the police in urban places like San Francisco. The majority of police don't want more gun control. They know it's pointless, and only screws over the law-abiding while not protecting them in the least.

I did couch my statement with "police organizations," like FOP and the Police Chiefs Yada Yada organizations. Given that there are more cops in cities, those organizations are probably mostly led by officers from urban areas.

Well, its less dangerous than keeping full gas cans in your garage.

He's a non-smoker, I would be more concerned with the floor collapsing from the weight of just the 150+ M1 Garand's, 93 97 win shotguns in one closet alone O-o . It's a old building with wood floors. He also owns a handful of Dodge Darts, and some 50's Dodge which he has to push from one side of the street to the other for street cleanings every other week because some don't run, or out of gas.

I really do not get this news item, when i read it last night i was reminded of the beginning of the push to "get assault weapons off the streets" in the late 80s/early 90s. When a gent was arrested for having a marlin mod 60 .22 with a tubular mag, because it held more than ten rounds, somewhere in L.A. county.
There really is a disconnect from reality on the part of some, in regards to firearms. I recognize that Guns are inherently unsafe, compared to lets say my granddaughters little "lala" Doll, but it too comes with some risk, if only to the little girl who plays with it, or the person who slips on it, or the pet that eats it, or ... As long as others have firearms, legally, I am damn well going to have them as well (Well not true, if Guns are outlawed, i guess i'll become a goutlaw (I have gout :) .
Just because someone is on hard times, and don't most of us know what thats like to some extent?, it does not mean they become a non-citizen and lose the right to bear arms.

2012-08-03 09:59:20 AM
To be fair, you gotta give them a little break. California is filled with pussies.

2012-08-03 10:08:44 AM
I know nothing about guns, but I do know knives, those are pretty crappy ones to be packing.

Not far off. The guy had a .22 rifle (non-scary hunting type), a pump action shotgun (non-scary hunting type), a cheap single-stack semi-auto handgun, and a single-shot derringer of some sort. The sort of guns a guy down on his luck would have, because he's already sold the ones that were worth anything for gas money.

Yeah, its a basic collection of the very basic's in gun ownership. All Cali compliant, and as non-scary as you can get. I wonder if they counted each BB they found as "Ammo" to get the numbers the police put out there (You just know this guy had a BB gun at one point, and those things never go away).
I'm just surprised they didn't put the jack handle on that table from the car.
Speaking of the car, you know it was impounded, so he's lost all his worldly goods, means to defend himself, home and will be billed for his incarceration.

How Cali goes, so goes the nation... eventually....
The testing ground of how far you can go in America for "enlightened" leadership...

And by the way, our own little shiat Poop storm is about to begin..Green..

If that is a "HUGE CACHE," then I have enough to "supply a whole army."

Clearly these cops have never been to Kentucky.

2012-08-03 01:02:07 PM
This is huge to San Fran. Anything more than 2 guns is equivalent to the impending apocalypse.

The whole time I lived in the bay area, I may have known 2 or 3 people who owned guns, as opposed to here in GA where I know 2 or 3 people who don't.

2012-08-03 01:02:55 PM
The picture clearly shows three AK-type automatic weapons and an M-16 automatic machine pistol. Plus five million rounds of ammo.

/Used my journalist's guide to weapon identification there.

That's it? Most bullet-head Farkers carry more weapons than that in their fanny-packs!

I'm counting what appears to be two AK-47's and two Glock pistols with ultra-high capacity magazines, most likely loaded with high-powered cop killer ammunition.

2012-08-03 01:05:32 PM
I like how they lined up the empty boxes the "tactical" gear came in to make it look like more.

You all think this is a silly thing but how would you feel when this guy started shooting up the local starbucks and killed a bunch of sock heads. You all be like "this guy never should have been allowed to own those firearms. Where were the police when they were needed!"

"Huge cache of guns" found in car, homeless man arrested. With picture of what is considered a "HUGE" cache of weapons in San Francisco

How come the only instance of the full phrase "huge cache of guns" on this entire page is in a link from a site called gunowners.com?

It's not in the title of the article. It's nowhere in the body of the article. I mean, it's almost as if the phrase Subby's so hung up on is entirely an invention of his own imagination.

"Fail" indeed.

P.S. the man seems to be mentally ill. If he had even a "miniscule" cache of guns, I'd be happier that it were out of his possession, thanks much.
