I really hope for the best, but I doubt there's much chance of a secular democracy coming as a result of this.

Yeah but the alarming part is that Syria is believed to have massive stocks of chemical and even bio weapons.

Assad is pretty deluded at this point. Either he believes he can continue, or that he'll just continue as long as possible because surrender would mean death anyways.

He could potentially shell "rebel cities" with chemical weapons, it's within his ability to do so, as long as he has access to the stores of weapons and the artillery or aircraft to deliver them.

Earlier, he declared they would never be used on Syrians, but only against foreign invasion. All it's gonna be is him declaring the rebels to be an "invasion", which I'm pretty sure he's already alleged.

Of course not, that is not in the best interest of Israel.

So as is often the case in these types of conflicts, the government's big advantage is their helicopter gunships. I wonder if our covert ops units are working on "accidently" getting more shoulder fired anti-aircraft weapons into the hands of the rebels.

It means death for the entire Alawis sect. They are in every position of power in Syria, being part of Assad's tribe. If he falls heads will roll, and since this is the Middle East i mean that in the most literal sense.

Oznog: Earlier, he declared they would never be used on Syrians, but only against foreign invasion.

He will declare whatever city he likes as "controlled by foreign invasion" and use it. He has been doing the traditional arab shtick of blaming the slaughter on "foreign invasion" since day one.

Right, Israel always prefers the islamic fundamentalist nutjobs with the hobby of murdering or funding the murder of israelis.

No Israel always interfers with other countries democratic processes to install patsy governments to do their bidding for the benefit of Israel and at the expense of that countries people, inflamming hatred toward their racist zionist genocidal Police state.

Of course they do, look how well they did it in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya. All over the arab world in fact they installed patsy governments doing Israel's bidding like always as you say.

They have people that do it for them. They used to anyway. I think we (this administration) is shying away from nation building. which is fine with me. Israel has little to fear as long as the arabs keep fighting each other. which historically is their favorite pastime.

I know it's hard to believe, but Israel does not control the world, the Middle East included.

When arabs fight with each other they tend to place the blame on their favorite scapegoat and use it to draw attention from their own busy schedule of slaughtering people. Assad blamed Israel for the mess in his county from day 1.

He's a dead man walking. And when he goes down, the Alowites(sp?), his tribe, are going to be exterminated.
