Martin estimated damage to the vehicles at more than $300,000; state police put it at more than $250,000.

By tomorrow this is going to be 7 million dollars in damage.

The biggest tractor ever built. It came with a rear-view camera and an in-cab display due to not being able to see out of the back window. Pretty innovative for 1977!

Seriously though, other than the cost to tax payers of which this guy has already and will continue to burden. That's pretty damn funny. Almost hero like in a really stupid way.

When the results of enforcement simply have to be worse than the "crime", accept nothing less than the criminalization of MJ.

This guy's lucky. In Eureka California, about 12-15 years ago, some guy threw a molotov cocktail into the police parking lot, then got away. Two weeks later, the cops got a tip that he was in a local supermarket. So when he came out, they ambushed and killed him. Didn't even try to make an arrest. Just shot him down.

I guess the moral of the story is don't make war on the police.

As terribly immature and inappropriate as I suppose that was, you have to laugh at the sheer nerve of the fellow.

Yeah I nominate this guy for hero too. I mean seriously - the charges on him were fairly specious and he let them know in no uncertain terms that he wasn't pleased.

So he'll do a little time in the pokey now. But I'll bet cops will think twice. Now - if he was REALLY smart he would have cut their communications. Make sure phones don't work (and cell is pretty easy to kill too!) they would have been up the creek without a paddle.

Where did one count aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer come from? It says everyone was inside.

I noticed that, too. Maybe some sh*t went down when they did catch up with him.

Pretty sure that would've upped the charges well beyond what he's doing now. That would show a lot of premeditation. This just looks like he snapped and did what every other red-blooded American has wanted to do at some point in their lives.

With their vehicles crushed, "We had nothing to pursue him with,"

ROFL.

At least two deputies had gone inside a few moments before after washing their vehicles

Isn't it always like that? You wash your car and it immediately rains. Or someone crushes it with a tractor.

There was this guy who was working on some cattle ponds with his backhoe near the Arizona / Mexico border probably 40 years ago. He was putting little dams in little gullies to catch some rain runoff so the rancher's cattle could drink. Anyway, it was several days of dirt work so he left his machine out there and took his truck and trailer home each night. One morning he showed up and his machine was gone, stolen, so he followed the big tire tracks south and into Mexico, this was back when a border fence meant five strands of barb wire, not the usual four. After following the tracks the whole way through ravines and everything with his big truck and trailer he rolled up with to a ranch house, and there was his backhoe. Everyone was asleep and he jumped on the machine and started flipping every vehicle and tearing through buildings with women and kids running out. And then he put the thing back on his trailer and hauled it right back the same way he came. Years later he put in our septic system when I was a kid. He is long dead now.

"the radios are ruined, the radar detectors, the cages in the cars ... We're going to have to get the jaws of life up here to pry the trunks open and see about the rifles and shotguns,"

Somebody please think of the rifles and shotguns, think of the radar detectors(?)-maybe they mean radar units. THINK OF THE RADIOS!

Sometimes you have to take your heroes in unusual form. The police will get over it.

Yes, there are many "good" cops. Cops who take their job seriously and actually keep the filth away from our pretty lives. Are there a ton of assholes? Absolutely.

However, back to business... My first thought:
