Mewbies, especially of the feline varieties, are aww-worthy 99.44% of the time.
No exception for these youngsters.
While "living wild" won't be for them, they'll receive the protection they wouldn't get if they were.

I remember seeing her at the zoo once. Awesomeness. Part of their meet and greet program, where we actually got up close to the cats. I think I remember petting her.. but might be mistaken!

We actually have a bobcat population around where my folks have their cottage on the lake. And I learned the difference between a Bobtail and a Lynx this summer. Interesting!

Greetings, Caturday folks.. not good news on the kitten front.. mommacat went into heat and was trying to kill the kittens.. took them to my vet, her receptionist is fostering them.. the kitten with the dark markings, like the daddy, didn't make it.. vet said internal damage from momma kicking it.. the gray one seems to be holding its own at the moment.. eyes never opened.. I was told that momma is supposed to lick them to help them open.. the kitten is with a surrogate mom right now.. seems to be working out.. still worried that there may be damage to that one also... time will tell.. mommacat is still in the bathroom.. she has been yodeling at the door bigtime..my crew is like "enough already", except for two of the neutered males who hang at the door... I have cat/people talk down fairly well.. sorta glad I don't understand cat/cat talk.. and I have a latch on the outside of the door to prevent accidental release.. momma hasn't been vet checked yet.. she will get that when she gets out of heat and is taken to get 'fixed'.. there is now cat type food in with her.. if she gets hungry enough, she will eat that.
Had a major piece of equipment fail at a friend's business.. had to do some tim-engineering to keep things running until necessary parts arrived, then do a tear down and rebuild on a tight time frame.. it was successful, and I am exhausted.. thank goodness I have a bunch of 'spare stuff' in my basement... came in very handy... and I am not working this weekend ! Besides, if I don't get my yardwork done soon, I will get a 'letter' from the city... with a deadline... don't need that.. I don't think it's that bad, but I thought I heard an elephant trumpeting last night.....( small one)...
Time to feed the crew.. be back Friday evening......

That was on of three that came out from under the trim around the ceiling ,I think I need to caulk around it to keep them all in the attic space. i knocked it down with a duster and Li-Ion pounced on it. The others retreated under the trim before I could knock them down. That was a big spider, as big as Li-Ions paw.
Tommy has adapted well to being a house cat. He enjoyed outside but inside seems to be safer and less demanding.

Dear The Load,

You might not know this yet but your human is planning on getting your harbles removed tomorrow.

DON'T PANIC

Your human really is thinking of your health and well being.

You really didn't want to have kids anyway. They are expensive, noisy, smelly and ungrateful.

You will be just fine in a couple of days. Then you can cat around all you want. No one will care.

Sincerely,

Salem

Hoo boy. I almost missed Caturday!

CSS

I had left my laptop open yesterday and forgot to close it up, and the little guy I watch got to it. I was in the other room fixing his lunch and I hear, "Mooo-oom! He's playing with your laptop!!" Crap. The hurdlers at the Olympics had nothing on me. I jumped over everything, but it was too late. By the time I got to it, the screen was black and it said, "Key 47 is stuck. Press F1 to restart;". So, I'm counting the keys until I got to what I think is #47 (LOL) and it didn't seem stuck, I pressed F1 and nothing. Fark. It was borked. Hubby being the IT guru in the house, took it to work to see what could be done.

He and another guy worked on it. He told the guy that his wife was on the warpath and needed it fixed because Caturday starts tonight.

"Caturday?"
"Yeah, It's a Fark thing."
"Fu*k?"
"No, Fark. It's a website that, nevermind. She looks forward to it, it makes her happy. And if she's happy, I'm happy. Do what you can, K?"

So here I am! I sent the guy a thank you email. lol

I'm slowly overcoming my fear of spiders but this one would be a scream for hubby and an ultimatum: spider goes/dies or we take the cats and find a hotel for a few days. He's vastly amused by my fear...

It's not often I post on caturday threads but we have good news in the sammyk household. Our cat named "Big Momma" went missing last April and showed up out of the blue last night. She isn't so big anymore. In fact she looks like she went to a kitty fat camp. But she is eating well and holding it down. She is going to the vet today just to make sure and she is due for shots.

Don't you wish they could talk? The stories they would tell.
When Fluffy Luffy would go missing (sometimes for years) she would come home with new manners. We discovered she was afraid of brooms, later a neighbor saw her and said that cat would come inside her house when the door was open. I think she was not welcome in a home that chased her out with the broom.
So glad that your kitty is back safe and sound.

It is pretty amazing how her personality has changed over the years. My wife rescued her from a gutter in Philadelphoa in 2004 just before a big snow storm. She was filthy. It did not take her long to enjoy the good life as an indoor kitty. She was a clean freak after that experience. She was always very loving and used to sit in the middle of us on the couch getting attention every night.

Then we moved south to Charlotte. We have a male cat that is kind of a dick so she decided she wanted to be an outside kitty again. It was a big move and they both changed personality a little. Especially since they had more outside space to play in. She took over a dog house meant for my 90lbs pit bull(he was introduced as a puppy and is terrified of both cats). So we made it comfy complete with electric heater for the colder months. Not that it gets that cold here but my wife is going to spoil all animals. She stayed really close for almost a year never going farther than the neighbors yards and flat out refused to come in the house. She also stopped being the usual attention whore and would only really let you pet her when she would sun her self on the concrete porch. Then she dissappered once in a while for 1-3 days. It really worried the wife but I figured she started out as a philly alley cat and knew how to fend for herself. Then she was gone and we thought she may never come back.

In the last 12 hours she hasn't left our bedroom but she really isn't hiding. In fact she slept with us all night. A first in at least 2 years. She was all over my wife when she was getting ready this morning. Now she is sitting by the window enjoying the veiw of the backyard.

I know I am going to have to be her protecter until she gets back to her normal weight. The tomcat is 18lbs and like I say he is a territorial dick. The dog is a 90lbs hellraiser.

Big momma before her great adventure.
