Long time no Caturday for me, bu I just had a cat moment to share...

There's a vacant apartment across the way being renovated. We saw a cat in the window, which should not be there! So my daughter, her friend & I went to see if we could get it out. Door was open, so we opened it a crack and left a dish of food by the door. We saw the cat come and get some food, but it ran right back in. So against good judgement we went in after it. And the cat was hiding under the bathtub... for good reason. She has a mess of babies under there!!!!! Tiny itty bitty skitties from the itty bitty kitty committee. We couldn't coax her out, so we left the food for her. God, I hope my apartment manager doesn't kill me. I was just so worried about the cat! It must have gotten in while they were working.

I can't help but think I've done my duty, but is there something else I can do? I called and left a message for the manager (OY! I'm so worried that she's going to be mad), animal control is closed at this hour... am I missing anything?

For the person who asked if Juno is really as derpy as I say she is (you know who you are) - the truth is she is more derpy and that you only hear part of the stories. Juno had a tough kittenhood and her brain did not develop normally, but I love her even more, as I say poor Juno is my "special" girl.

tigerose: Sigh..thread jack...today I found out that my Uncle Fred is going to Minnesota to live with sister in law. He is going to be 93 this yr. And in poor health. So I am thinking that the next few times I go to visit him may be the last time I see him. I really like him, as does my son. And my father in law is showing signs of dimentia, so this might be the last we see of him outside of a nursing home. And the battery died on my car, and I can't reset my clock or radio...just too much for this cat today.

Awww. I'm sorry. When it rains, it pours, doesn't it?? {{{hugs}}}

Curiosity has landed. Human ingenuity and cooperation have put an effing ROBOT on MARS!

All you violent shooters, greedy bankers and politicians, and religious zealots lose this day!

Now back to my writing. I'm writing a novel (actually yes, sci-fi), and I forgot about the landing until -2 hours. I downloaded the NASA simulator. It was amazing. I freaked out when the guy in mission control said "looking for a flat place..." They're good enough to be picky about the spot!! I am so getting drunk!

Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Posted this to TFD, but I'll re-post what I put on there, because not everyone comes to this thread who wanted to know what happened today.

She was brought out of the coma this afternoon, and although it took a while for her to actually wake up, she finally did. Took her a while to stay awake for more than a few seconds, but she finally was coherent enough to ask how the kids were. So anyone who had that on the "What are the first words BBBB's wife says?" you win an internet. She did start to complain that her legs were hurting, which was another thing that thankfully I was prepared for by the docs. I couldn't really answer that, and had my mom in there with us when she came around. She handled that one, because even though the docs said it might happen, that one hit me hard. Kids spent about 15 minutes with her. Daughter talked the most, but the boy was content to just hold her hand and smile at her. She went back to sleep again, and mom took the kids back home and then took them to the beach. After a couple of hours, she woke up again and was more aware this time. She didn't remember seeing the kids and was really slurred in her speech. She also repeated herself a lot, which started sounding some alarm bells in my mind. Talked to the docs then, and she was taken in for a CT scan. There was no sign of a stroke, but the loss of CSF fluid appears to have caused a few problems. Mainly, portions of her brain are misfiring because of the low levels of CSF fluid, which can cause her to have the symptoms she's currently having. It is nothing that will be permanent, but they will continue with 1-2 CT scans a day until it clears up so if a stroke does happen, it isn't missed. Not sure how long that will last, but we'll have to wait and see. The memory problem was hard to deal with because she kept asking the same questions, and I had to keep telling her that she was paralyzed, and then watching the same reaction over and over again. I'm glad that the kids didn't see that, ...

Just woke up. Awesome to hear she's woken and, other than the memory and leg pain issues, seems to have weathered the leaks well. Yay! Though the repeat of telling her she was paralyzed would have devastated me.. :( Huge hugs to you for holding up under that kind of emotional pressure.

/hope grandma gets some nice pics of the kids at the beach
//will do you both some good to see that
///looking forward to more updates
/and sending a lot of good thoughts/wishes to you all

yobbery: Glad to hear that all three of you are doing better.
Pancreatitus is a b*tch! Meep was in the kitty ICU for three days with it. The treatment is counter-intuitive in that you're supposed to withhold food and water for at least 24 hours. The doc told us it was most likely due to a chunk of pork fat she nabbed from my plate a few days earlier. I remembered the event because it was very unMeep-like of her to snag food from your plate.

I'm curious if your vet mentioned anything about pork products? Not sure if it's the same for dogs but cats have a hard time breaking down the large fat molecules.

I don't think pork is as bad for dogs as it is for cats, but it's generally a pretty fatty meat, so probably not good to feed in large quantities. We think Buddy's problems were triggered by too many people-food tidbits (we thought we were cheering him up), on top of a fairly high-fat (if only I knew then what I know now) brand of gooshyfood and kibble, which in hindsight he was probably only barely tolerating. :(

How was Meep after her treatment? Did you have to feed her special food? Did she go back to eating normally after that?

And re: EHRMAGERD, KERKY! -- lol! Thank you. :)

Speaking of Dragon, where on Earth is Sherpa this week? He has been noticeably absent. Worries me.

Salem Witch thanks for the hugs. Sorry about your step-pop as well. It is really hard to watch, even harder to know where it leads. My father in law knows that his memory is bad, and gets frustrated that he can't find the words he wants. Today I am going out to Freds Apt. to help his sister in law get some sorting done. I've got to go out and get some boxes.

On a lighter note...Eli is currently sleeping in my dresser drawer. I guess he feels that my tshirts don't have enough cat hair on them, so he's decided today would be a good day to make a fur-deposit! Lol! Kittehs and Goggies, never fail to put a smile in your heart!
