1000Airplanes: Hi Farkers, keep posting your pics. It makes me smile even though I had to send my little shih tzu, chevy, to rainbow bridge this morning. Is it normal for a 47 yo male to cry like a baby?

So sorry about your little Chevy. :(

Yes, it is completely normal to cry like a baby after losing your best friend, no matter who you are! We lost our 16-y.o. chihuahua 2 weeks ago, and my husband cried buckets. He is 57, six feet tall, and British. :-S

spinach gunk: Hey there farkers! It's me again.... :)

Well, we still miss our little Sarah, I guess we always will, but we are gradually getting used to life with just the three of us. Mr. Gunk and I are eating and sleeping normally again. Buddy is absolutely loving sucking up 100% of our attention. Things are all right. I think we are going to be okay.

A big change of a different sort for Buddy -- last week he got very sick, wouldn't eat, a bit of vomiting, and diarrhea with blood in it, so he got to make a trip to the vet too. The vet did some bloodwork, and it turns out poor Bud has pancreatitis. His body can no longer produce enough enzymes to properly break down excess fats in his bloodstream. The good news is, this condition can be managed very easily by switching to a low-fat diet. The great news is, Buddy LOVES the low-fat prescription food, omg, I can't remember the last time he snarfed food down so fast! He used to be quite the snarfer, dinner gone in about 45 seconds on average, but for a while now his appetite hasn't been all that good, he was eating slower, left food on his plate sometimes, looked mopey quite a lot. I thought he was just getting old. :(

But the new food agrees with him and he loves eating it! I've been cutting the prescription food with some good quality low-fat store-bought food for now, and he loves that too! He has a new lease on life (and happy poops!). Frisky, happy, spirited, licky. :) It is such a joy to see, especially after the heartbreak of losing Sarah. He could probably do with losing a pound or two too. Let's hope that the food agrees with him long-term and that his newfound well-being is a permanent development!

Thanks again for all your friendship and support, Caturdayers. :)

Buddy says, my cookie, let me show you it.

That picture put a big smile on my face. I'm glad to hear he loves his new diet too.

Over a year ago I had to relocate my cat that was with my ex-wife (and perfectly happy) to my place in the panhandle- she lived outside Orlando. So my kitty "Maki Tuna Roll" comes to live with me. Being an outdoor kitty I was cautious to not let her out for about two weeks after her arrival. I finally let her out to explore the woods behind my house confidant she could find her way back. i never saw her again. Until just last week.

You see I manage a photo lab. And one day last week this neurotic lady customer of mine came in with a memory card with about 800 images on it. I was tasked with finding a particular image on this card to do an enlargement for her. So while I am looking through her images I come across this photo above. THIS IS "MAKI TUNA ROLL!!!!" I know for certain. Without a doubt. I mean look how distinct her coat is! So I am absolutely beside myself on waiting for this customer to come back in so I can ask her just how in the world she ended up with a photo of my lost cat on her memory card. Now remember this lady is a bit if a nut and probably a bit bi-polar. She comes in and I tell her story of my missing cat and tell her that I am certain this is her. She told me that this cat belonged to a friend of hers who happens to have a dozen or so other cats. That right. My cat was abducted by a crazy cat lady hoarder! I tell schizo lady to put me in contact with hoarder lady because I want my damn cat back. So a few days later schizo lady comes back and tells me that Hoarder lady swears she has had that cat for ten years and this couldn't be my cat. I know this is Maki DAMMIT! So now schizo lady won't give me any more info on hoarder lady because hoarder lady is in collusion with schizo lady. I would be content on having her keep Maki if she is clearly happy and being taken care of. But for her to deny that this cat can't be a stray she picked up about a year ago.... I am farking pissed! Wha ...

Did you have her microchipped?

If not I would bring in a picture and ask to compare the two. Ask to visit the cat to prove it remembers you.

If not you might want to negotiate a price and just bribe them. It'll be cheaper than going to court over it.

Fun pictures from our trip to the park yesterday.....

First of all:

OK.
Then, a bunny. Some little boys were feeding him carrot leaves. He said, don't mind if I do.

Wait, there are people who don't have pippi derp-ass on ignore? You're doing it wrong. :3

NotSoNiceBunny: I'm slowly overcoming my fear of spiders but this one would be a scream for hubby and an ultimatum: spider goes/dies or we take the cats and find a hotel for a few days. He's vastly amused by my fear...

I'm getting better as well; if it's over there and minding its own business, cool, you go do your spider-thing. Come near me and I will reduce your dimensions to a molecule thick by several molecules very, VERY wide. Though I DID handle the scorpion in my bedroom rather well a few years back. Screw you, Oklahoma, I will set you on fire one of these days...

Gah, that reminds me of Bandit, my old, cranky tuxedo boy. If he decided to sit on your lap, be sure to put down a washcloth or something, because once he got comfy and started to purr, he'd start to drool. It would slowly ooze down his fangs like an inside-out IV drip, collect in his chin hairs, and when it got too big for his hairs to hold onto, *BLOOP!*, it would fall and damn near make a splash. And his breath was terrible. Ew!!

JLS1965: You are a fan of Bob and Tom's Mr. Obvious aren't you......hahahahaha......

I love their show. Haven't listened to it in ages because 1) I'm never driving when it's on, 2) radio is complete and total garbage these days, and 3) mp3 player + audio jack = win. :)

John Buck 41: Bathia_Mapes: pippi longstocking: Great a cat thread...queue the single middle-age women to start making a puddle.

This is the weekly Caturday thread. No one forced you to click on it, let alone read it.

And just to blow his half-assed theory to smithereeens, here's a middle-aged married guy who is a regular checking in.

It'd be nice to go just one Caturday w/o a troll. But whatever. I know their gameplan, but it still makes me feel better despising them and knowing they are lower than whaleshiat at the bottom of the Marianas Trench, whether they care or not.

It may have been a more convincing troll if he knew the difference between queue and cue. Still, it must be difficult to understand basic words when you spend all your time with your head stuck up your arse. More to be pitied than censured, as my old gran used to say.

Needlessly Complicated: Hi, long-time listener, first time caller. You guys always give good advice. Doing a long distance move at the end of the month (Illinois to Texas) and decided to take my little kitty friend via automobile. I already called my vet and they are providing a sedative to calm her down. She gets extra panicky in cars. I'm taking food and water, of course, and one of those small disposable litter boxes. Is there anything else I can do? She's about 10 years old and in good health, if it makes any difference. Thank you! (on mobile so I owe you 1 cat picture)

my kitty liked riding in the passenger seat, on the floor of the passenger seat or on the back seat with his favorite blanket. He was obnoxious and got really stressed if we stuck him in his carrier. We let him explore the car really well one day and frequently took him for short trips. A carrier is safer though. If you have a carrier, bring it into the house and put her favorite blanket, one of your worn shirts or a towel and catnip inside (a piece of carpeting on the bottom is great because it doesn't slide around). Leave the door open! Sometimes it helps to toss a blanket over the top to create a kitty cave. Encourage her with treats to go in the carrier until you move.

Figure out what her pattern is for using the litter box. Our guy always went after breakfast, once during the day and after his dinner so when we brought him on trips we knew to wait until he had used it before packing him up for the morning. We planned an hour +/- stop every 2-3 hours and offered him the box, water and food, outside of the car in a safe place away from traffic/noise. He was leash trained, even if your cat isn't I'd clip one on to her collar before getting out of the car! He'd usually use his box on the second or third stop of the day. Instead of the disposable box we brought along his normal litter, garbage bags that fit the box and a smaller litter box. Slide the pan into the bag,put about a cup of litter in the garbage bag/pan and toss the bag and litter after use. If he didn't use it I just tied the bag shut for next time.

Bleh, splitting this over two posts 'cause I hate making ginormous posts.

The boys are just too cute, and I'm pretty sure that Sassy is part herbivore of some kind, because every time he's outside he goes to chew on the grass. I expect him to say "moo" instead of "meow" one of these days.

i60.photobucket.com

My friend and I always visit the pet store when on our Day Out every week and visit the cats at the adoption area. The fosters change out every week or two, so it's fun to drop by and see all of the cute and fuzzies who need homes. (And I always feel sad because I want to give ALL of them a home!) This week I had to get pics.

i60.photobucket.com

i60.photobucket.com

I laughed at how callously the grey kitty had the other pinned down, who didn't seem to care, and in the other cage I tried to get a good photo of the black-smoke tabby's markings, but my phone doesn't have a flash on it. Very distinctive, didn't have any of the lighter colors on his face that I usually see in tabbies.

And now, I putter off for munchies. Back later to see more of the cool stuff that you all post. :)

Oh, wait, nearly forgot, I'm in the California Central Valley, and there's a chance of thunderstorms today. I can smell a bit of rain-wind coming in through the window, and it's a cool 76 degrees at two-and-a-half in the afternoon. In AUGUST. What the HECK. Our rainy season is September-April, and summers are dry and very hot. Nature is either off her meds or in the celestial liquor cabinet right now. o_O

We lost our big old kitty, Tommy, to cancer a week ago. He was ready to go and it was a relief to give him a painless death. We are considering fostering kitties, if we don't just adopt two outright, (they have a big hole to fill, tom was the size of two kitties:) but don't know which group is ok to work with. If anyone has experience with feline foster groups in the Twin Cities area please email me : username at gmail.
Thanks

Helloooooooo!
*waves little Alien arms around madly*

Sorry I have been MIA for the past while - but the life of an Alien with the worst luck known to any being
in exhistence has kept me from finding internet and all that fun stuff :/
I have been holed up in a hotel this past week and as of tomorrow...I do not know where I will be - but I will
let you know once I do.

My heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones that I haven't been able to tell you that, and those
who have all lost jobs and all who have seemed to be dragged into the nine portals of hell as I have :(
*lots of little Alien hugs*
*and treats to the furkids - lots of treats*
I am here for you. Each of you. Even if you just want to vent, scream, cry, laugh - I am here.

I know a few have quietly asked about me and those who know me very, very well know that I do not
like to ask for help yet am always there for everyone and will do whatever I can for you all :D

So...I thought I would just post this here.
A special friend sent me this and as I cannot think of the right way to embarassingly and humbly and
meekly say it...

Oh!
And I wanted to share with you all my new favorite picture of Gremlin my friend took for me :D
Heffalump is such a BRAT - he shoved all his 15lbs of floofiness onto that spot (as he is not supposed to be ON the kitchen counters at all...yeah...uh huh haha) and was watching my friend to make sure she did not leave even the
tiniest bit of gooshy food in the can. :3
How he can even sit like that I don't even know
Oh....and he has become quite the mighty hunter. He keeps his castle bug free and critter free. He caught 4 mice the other week and then looked at his slave that said "Why they no play anymore?" and complained and complained...
And then last week...
Gremlin caught a hummingbird.
Yes. You read that right.
A freakin HUMMINGBIRD!!!!
She had to wrestle him and actually ended up fighting the heffalump and won and was able to free the little bird.
It flew off all weird but it was probably going "HOLY SHIZNIT!! WTF JUST HAPPENED?!?!" :3

And yet Gremlin will always run up to her crying, begging for her to fish any insect he's eating out of his mouth "to save him" if the bug has long legs as apparently he freaks himself out over that *epic Facepalm*
...Oh Gremlin you derpy heffalump :3

Yay, I have a happy! There's a little black cat that hangs around the houses around mine, and I don't know who it belongs to, assuming it does. (Not even sure if boy or girl.) Normally kitty and its momma (a fluffy black cat) are skittish, but when I went out to the car a bit ago, I saw little-kitty, and it didn't run off. So I squatted down and trilled at it like Sonny and Sassy do, making the happy-squint that cats to when things are all cool. To my surprise, its ears and tail perked up as it bounded over, chirped back, and did a run-by petting before he did a victory lap around the car. I had my phone in my pocket, so I was able to follow it around, snap a pic as it did happy-rolls on the driveway, before it headbutted my hand again and galloped off to the backyard. It's the little things. :)

hug, I would crate a shelter for the kittens and make sure there is plenty of food and water available. Possibly a large dog crate with old towels and blankets so they can get used to it and make trapping easier.

Look up Trap, Neuter, Release programs and see if they can assist with trapping the kittens. She may have to keep them overnight (in the crate) in the bathroom, garage, or basement then drop them off the next morning.

She isn't so big anymore. In fact she looks like she went to a kitty fat camp. But she is eating well and holding it down. She is going to the vet today just to make sure and she is due for shots.

Wow! I can't imagine how that must have felt to have her appear after all that time.

So I'm not sure if the image will post. (I've never tried to post an image here on Fark before.)
Long time lurker, but a buddy of mine drew this in PS, and I thought I would share it with you fine folks. It's as close to owning a real furbaby as I can get right now.

1000Airplanes: Hi Farkers, keep posting your pics. It makes me smile even though I had to send my little shih tzu, chevy, to rainbow bridge this morning. Is it normal for a 47 yo male to cry like a baby?

I'm so sorry. {{{HUGS}}} And yes. Yes it is. When you lose a furbaby, you lose a member of your family.

AlienDandelion: Oh!

1000Airplanes, I hear you.
Earlier I posted Bitter was not doing well. After a talk with the vets, I confirmed what I strongly suspected - that it was his time. Bit was put down at about 4pm. The world has a little less anger in it now than it did before (remember, he was the world's angriest cat - here's photo proof: i.imgur.com).
And yes, 1000Airplanes, I think it's perfectly normal for a grown man to cry like a baby.
To those that sent well wishes (Sickapie, laulaja, Salem Witch, Bathia_Mapes, tigerose and probably some others i missed), thank you.

Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: So according to the doctors, tomorrow at one, she will be brought out of the coma. Everything is great on the vitals and they feel she needs to come out of it and start being conscious. Obviously this is great news, and tomorrow is going to be an absolutely great day. Kids and I spent most of the morning with her, and they are bouncing off the walls right now. I talked to them both on the ride home about staying calm and quiet when she wakes up, and they both seem to understand that and both promised to be nice. Mom is at the hospital right now, still talking to the cardiologist, but I think they're just swapping stories more than anything else. I'm staying tonight at the hospital, and my brother and SIL are taking all the kids to go and see a movie tonight. Mom is staying home and watching the Olympics and tolerating the cats. She's a dog person, and is absolutely freaked out about the ferrets which is funny. Getting a few things done around the house this afternoon, and then making dinner for everyone tonight. Going with chicken enchiladas and some Spanish rice. So everything is going fine, and she will finally be awake tomorrow. Also, I still plan on reading to her tonight, so if you have anything you want me to tell her, just write it down and I'll get it to her tonight. Thanks again to everyone for all the wishes, prayers, vibes, karma, thoughts, fist bumps, awkward man hugs, and everything else, because I really don't think I could have made it through this without knowing you crazy TFers and TFettes had my back.

So happy things are going the way they should! You are truly blessed to have such wonderful children and a family close by so willing to help!

The Ice Queen: Aww! So sorry to hear of Farley's injury! But glad they were able to diagnose his issues. Give them both scritchies for me! Maybe you can let them have supervised playtimes? Or install a screendoor between their seperate territories..at least until he heals. *closes eyes* I see stairsteps to couches and windowsills in your future......

Didn't Yobbery or someone do this to keep their cats separated when one was ill but it allowed the cats to still look at each other?

Yep, the $15 sliding door.
Vinyl lattice with edging (stiffened with some old scraps of wood) and double wide adjustable shelf rails. The lattice edging fits perfectly in the rails and it slides real nice. Held in place with only four screws.

TOWG: The Load is home from the vet in good shape considering his harbles are now history. The vet said the procedure went well and to take him home and give him plenty of time to rest, recuperate, and plot his revenge. Thanks for the good vibes Caturday!!

AlienDandelion: Helloooooooo!

[fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net image 464x640]

Please? Help? Save me? I dunno really know :*( nor do I even know how :(

TOWG, will echo her wishes for "The Load" to have a speedy and painless de-harbling on the morrow.
On that note, Db for a change (interchangeable with C#) I need to bid you all a Guten Abend & go turn into
the pumpkin I generally do at this hour (except Mon when I stay up for 1) chorus & 2) threadclose of Caturday.)
What am I saying! We've Only Just Begun this 'un!

spinach gunk: Hey there farkers!

[i870.photobucket.com image 480x640]

So happy you guys are doing well! And very glad "The Budster" is getting a new lease on life!

Happy poops. LMAO! That's awesome.
