Good Meowning! a bit late I know, but I have been cleaning like a mad woman! My brother in law called to inform me(not ask) that they were going to be in town this weekend, starting Friday night. The call came Wed. pm. Now, my house is fairly clean, but it isn't guest clean. So cleaning, and steaming(me!).

I will pop in when I can.

Happy Caturday to all!

sammyk, BigMomma deserves her rest, doesn't she? Deserves just about anything she wishes.
tigerose, our kin don't get away with telling us they're coming, at least not with only 2 days notice.
leftyblonde! WB, or else I haven't been paying close enough attention!
Sri, no pic now but definitely one/some later. Copied from there:
Sorry! We've planned this time for some quick scheduled maintenance.
We really hate running around with our hair on fire, and eventually we have to upgrade our servers.
This just happens to be the time when traffic is at it's lowest, so it's the best time to do maintenance like this.
Please be patient while we get things working again. We will be back soon with more capacity.

That's what they said when I lost their service for days, wks ago!
But now on porpoise, my Most Visited tab is kept empty except for very recent visits.

Hello everybodeee!

 ^-^
='.'=

Extra shifts...worked last night and am working the next two as well.
Time for inner eyelid inspection and feline Sleep Rays.

Glad to see me old acquaintance Kimba the White Lion right up top.
Anyone remember the episode when the crazy scientist engineered the 'Flyger' (flying tiger)?
I wanted to try that SO BADLY on myself...wanted to be able to fly like that.

/ I was 9 years old at the time, OK?
// ...and we STILL don't have the flying cars that we were promised...

Oh no! I hope Sassy comes home soon safe and sound! Keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed!

Good luck with the baby kitten! :o)

yobbery: maynerdkitty: My Li-Ion tried to save me from a giant spider last night!
[farm9.staticflickr.com image 500x375]
He had back up from the cross eyed spotter.
[farm8.staticflickr.com image 500x375]

Yikes! That looks like a big ass spider!
I like to think I can handle most creepy bugs, but that would make me scream like a little girl.
[i211.photobucket.com image 320x237]

Supervisor tried to play a joke on me last night..."Look at this huge spider I found!"
It was one of those plastic 'Black Widow onna Ring" thingies that are so popular at Hallowe'en.
My immediate reaction was "Whoa, that's a big one!"...without any screaming or immediate levitation onto the ceiling (I rather like spiders, actually).

Supervisor was a bit disappointed her joke fell flat, so I assured her that if she'd brought a grasshopper I would have reacted...uh...better (i.e., "HOLY FARK GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT!").

I do not like grasshoppers...just something about them gives me the squicked-out collywobbles.

Of course, the cats find them exceedingly entertaining...an amusing hunt (Stalk/buttwiggle/POUNCE/dribble-dribble-dribble/vertical-five-foot-SP RING/acquire escaped target. Repeat ad lib.) followed by an (apparently) tasty snack once the 'hopper has...er...lost interest in the proceedings.

They have been courteous enough to yark up the indigestible remains OUTSIDE.

Such a considerate clowder... ya just gotta love 'em.

Farleycat's in the wars. He started limping three weeks ago so off we went to the vet. Vet prescribed anti-inflammatories. Shortly afterwards Farley screwed up a landing when jumping off low table and any recovery seemed to have been wiped out. So back to the vet's office yeaterday.

Here he is, in his now dismantled box (he would *not* come out), not happy at being at the vet's again.

i.imgur.com

More exams, more X-rays, radiology consult requested.

Turns out that there's nothing major, nothing broken, I'm pleased to say. Farley has a soft tissue injury in the front left paw (sprain, strain, tendon, whatever). The X-rays however revealed the interesting reason for the injury (which was probably caused by landing badly - no Olympic floor gymnastics for this boy!) - the radiologist diagnosed that Farley has a congenital deformity in both front paws. Both humeruses (humerii?) are deformed and there's abnormal bone growth in both ulnas (unlae?). He's flat out built wrong - and a poor landing on incorrectly formed and deformed bones caused the damage.

Weeks and weeks of rest together with antiflammatories and pain meds (all liquid, thank goodness) have been prescribed. NO TUSSLING WITH FRANKIE - torsion caused by twisting to get away from Frankie while roughhousing will only make things worse. So half the house is now Farley's terrain and the other half is Frankie's.

Frankie wants to know where Farley is and is letting us know loud and long that he ain't happy at Farley's absence.

Ah, my.

sammyk: It's not often I post on caturday threads but we have good news in the sammyk household. Our cat named "Big Momma" went missing last April and showed up out of the blue last night. She isn't so big anymore. In fact she looks like she went to a kitty fat camp. But she is eating well and holding it down. She is going to the vet today just to make sure and she is due for shots.

Woot!

Hope all goes well at the vet. :-)

That is true. Once he said he was going to come up and visit, he arrived 2hrs early, and with 2 kids in tow...Man did I scramble! Good thing I know how to make soup..Quick easy lunch for unexpected guests! He is a doctor, and so I think he must believe that the world revolves around him and his schedule. I'm actually going to tell him I need at least 4 days notice for visits..not that it will help, but at least I will have said something!
(He once invited himself and all his kids(5) to Easter( about 4 days prior) too. I made them eat outside...at the Kids table)! I'd already planned on his Dad and my Uncle coming...so it made for 15 people for dinner...

Finally back again! Said I resented the 11:30 lab stuff & EKG; we wuz mis-directed to wrong bldg in hosp complex, didn't help. Then had groc run to do, a furrin mailing to mail (amateur radio associated) & finally reached home ~3.
So what have I been doing meanwhile, besides wasting time. You don't wish to know.
leftyblonde, you said you awaited bessyglass & boy howdy did she make an appearance!
On a roll for sure, with or without hot dog. I didn't count, but there was a ganze Menge (whole bunch).
Maydaynun, sorry to hear Sassy's MIA, hope she gets her tail in gear & comes home soon!
Also good luck with the orange & white, hope she won't be jealous if he's still there on her return.
fredcat, best wishes for Farley's recovery.
& Bathia Mapes, 25 most awkward is always welcome! Should bid fair to become a Classic Thread fairly soon!

Aww! So sorry to hear of Farley's injury! But glad they were able to diagnose his issues. Give them both scritchies for me! Maybe you can let them have supervised playtimes? Or install a screendoor between their seperate territories..at least until he heals. *closes eyes* I see stairsteps to couches and windowsills in your future......

Bathia_Mapes: Awkward cat sleeping postions 2: Electric Boogaloo

Eli favors the full sink, as well as the hug the couch back, which I did not see represented...nor did I see the midstair slop, which every cat knows is the best way to see if your hooman can fly...and to learn new and colorful words!

Hi all, I'm back on Total Fark (thanks Cubansaltyballs!) so I figured I've give the cat update. The last time I posted we had just started letting the kittens out all night long. We were worried how the new cats (2 kittens and a 1 year old Abby) would integrate with the old cats.

Sammycat, out 18 year old black cat, still isn't too impressed with all the new arrivals. His brother Jet passed away back in March, Jackcat resembles him, so Sam sometimes thinks his long lost brother is back. Sammy gets a little pissy once he realizes Jack isn't Jet.

Snuffycat, our 11 year old mostly Wegee, is warming to the new cats. He's actually been caught playing with the little ones! Jack thinks Snuffy is wonderful, he tags along behind him, and he's fast enough to easily duck the occasional cuff.

Desi, the 1 year old Abyssinian, thinks he's in heaven. He's been introduced to gushy food, he thinks it's the most wonderful thing in the world! He seems to be able to fly, as we constantly find him on top of stuff. He climbs our clothes to get to the top of the closet, and he springs from the bed to the dresser to the top of the hutch with seemingly no effort. We're calling him "The Nuzzleator" as he's got this habit of waking us up at 3:00 in the morning nuzzling and licking us like a little maniac!

Jack and Cisco, the 6 month old mono-chromatic cats (1 black, 1 gray), are growing like weeds. They are already almost as big as Desi, we're wondering how big they will end up. Nothing seems to faze them, they barrel around the house like madmen. They move too fast to get decent pictures, and the solid colors just don't photograph well. They are also thinking about making the break for outdoors (they are not supposed to be going out) so they and Desi just got collars with their names and our phone # embroidered on just in case they do escape. Thinking of that, we'd like to get them chipped as a backup in case they do escape, does anyone have any experience with that? How much does that usually run?

As for photos, we've only got one good new one, Mrs Snuffybud got it the other morning after the young cats has run themselves out of energy.

I'll update again sometime while I've got TF, hopefully I'll get some better pictures!
