Oddest feud under the rainbow....

If Jerry Springer, or Howard Stern, or any similar broadcaster contacts you or a friend, asking you to appear on a show about bronies, say NO and don't let them persuade you. They're just out to make us all look bad."

You know, after getting those phone calls at all hours of the night from talk show hosts asking about cartoon equestrian fetishes, I was almost tempted to accept a mocking on National TV until I read this post.

Thank you, anonymous steamer, for enlightening me.

I just don't get the whole brony thing. I've seen an episode MLP:FIM. And I can say it's something I can easily watch with my niece if she ever gets into it. It's certainly not painful to endure like some of the headache-inducing shiat my nephew witches. And while I admire that they sneak in references to movies like The Big Lebowski, I just can't see myself watching it all by my lonesome. Any bronies here who can fill me in on what I'm not getting?

Bronies, adult fans of the cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, are usually males (86%) who are 15 to 29 years old (89%) and have never been married (97%)

Some of us like it enough that we can watch it alone or with a group of similarly aged friends. I imagine there are some shows that you like that some of your friends and acquaintances say "I just don't get how you stand that." I'm that way with Big Bang Theory. I just don't understand why some of my friends watch it, but I understand that they and I aren't always going to like the same things.

That article couldn't figure out if it was making fun of bronies or defending them, I'm confused.

Also I find it funny that Jerry's producers would think there were any bronies who actually had girlfriends.

Oh for crying out loud.

My little pony? My little pony!? AHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHH!!!

I used to wonder what losers farkers could be, until you all shared this little obsession with me. There's a whole big world of adventure out there, tons of fun things to do that don't involve cartoons for little girls. Listen, I sort of get it. When growing up you were always the one last picked at recess, your mother would always reassure you were beautiful and the gym teacher would describe you as having "heart," if nothing else. The truth is your mom was just being faithful and your coach trying to inspire you to become strong. The fact that you revel in watching this tripe proves you've let them both down.

I'm sharing this with you out of kindness. It's an easy feat to just shake my head and move on to other topics, if I could use retarded pony magic and turn back time so I never read this thread, my life would be complete. But I can't do that, instead I have to sit here and read about you my little ponies.

Kome: gunga galunga: I just don't get the whole brony thing.

Oh, I get that part. And to take your example and run with it, I like BBT because of all the geek references and the fact that a sitcom about super-intelligent people is a welcome breath of fresh air from all those sitcoms about stupid people. That and the dialogue is well above par. But I can understand that for other people, there is no getting around Sheldon's obnoxious personality.

My question is for those enjoy MLP, what is it you get out of it?

Its the best show my 6 and 8 year old watch. It's ammusing, its message is to be nice, it has lots of pop culture references and Q plays a bad guy in it.

High quality animation, characters that are well rounded and well acted, and a pleasant show that's not dripping with cynicism. Like the best cartoons when I was growing up, there are also plenty of jokes that operate on two levels - one for kids, and one for adults.

This - This is fine. This is quite understandable. What I find, well, odd (to be polite) is the grown men who have no children who obsess about the show, follow it with a cult-like zeal, and act like the rest of us just don't "get it." Yeah, I get it. Lots of us watched "Animaniacs" in college for the pop culture references, and because weed, but I digress. It just seems odd for a grown, childless man to get obsessively wrapped up in a cartoon aimed at girls under ten.
