At my first job, our HR director had a Corgi that lost use of his back legs because of cancer. He had a little cart and had to come to the office every day because the other dogs would pick on him. He wheeled himself all around and was totally adorable.

And he's got the ice cream! I can't look at it anymore. You gotta dog like that and you gotta give em ice cream. He's gotta mug MADE for eatin ice cream. Look at them chubby chops. Then he holds himself just like a real life paraplegic does when they're not in a wheelchair. But unlike a hermit crab changing shells he's got time to ham it up with a great big courageous smile. Give that dog some god damned ice cream!

The beautiful thing about dogs is that they do not have the ability to feel sorry for themselves.

As long as they're not in pain and there's otherwise nothing else wrong he'd be just as happy as any other dog. Just can make those sharp turns like the other kids but you can at least paint a b*tch'n lightning bolt on his wheels.

I'd give him a home but I have too many stairs. :(

/still going to adopt another elder dog to provide a retirement home, though.

That last picture makes me think that in about 5 seconds there are going to be bits of books flying everywhere. At least that's what happens every time i have a puppy anywhere near anything chewable.

Ms. FFF and I volunteer for a couple of rescues, the stray problem here in Houston is awful. But the biggest problem is people dumping dogs at events, stores etc because they didn't "work out for them"

So we start chipins, find rescues and fosters that will help make sure they are vetted, healthy and read for adoption. Our current little guy is a lab mix that has a bad case of mange. I went to see him at his fosters' last weekend, his body feels like one giant scab. He's maybe 4/5 months old. We found out the family was being evicted from their house, so they just left one day, leaving him there. One of the volunteers had drive by a couple of times to se if he belonged to someone and was just wandering off leash. He would stay on the front porch, waiting for them to come back.

He's a great little dog, takes his medicine wants to play, is learning commands.

I know when you see dogs like that, your first inclined to feel bad, but as long as their not in pain, their spirits are high.

/No gonna go home and love my two little mutts.

I read this earlier today, I wanted to call them and tell them to let me adopt all the dogs, but I'm moving soon and that isn't good for a new puppy.

Good on you and Mrs. FFF.

I seem to have an extra soft spot for special needs critters. I've had two blind dogs, one was diabetic.

I couldn't help but think they needed one for when he had to poop... I've watch my rescue, a Chocolate Lab, start to squat and he brings the hind legs closer to the front while he's also scooting the front legs in...

This poor pup would probably fall everytime...

And yes, the people at worksay "There's something seriously wrong with you" when I come up with things like this...
