As a parent whose only child, my 16 year old son, finally came out of the closet this week, I have to say this link made me tear up and happy-sappy cry because of how far equality has come in my lifetime. I know there is still a long way to go, but love will eventually win out.

When our son told the hubby and I, the three of us cracked open a bottle of champagne and stayed up half the night talking and laughing and just being together.

Why do you care how other people conduct their weddings?

Because I want to piss off the bigots and tell them that their time is up. Performing a proper wedding is a way to reach into their lives and their views and say to them "We're here. Get used to it"

I give you 10 maybe 15 years before you're a conservative. Only young people are that liberal and angry.

That middle-aged and older people aren't as angry over the treatment of a large number of their fellow citizens is more problematic than the younger generations' being angry at the state of affairs.

Affairs is what this will lead to...and the destruction of the non-traditional marriage. Mark my words...as a divorce lawyer who is happy to divorce straight or gay couples who have not yet realized that the grass is indeed greener on the outside of a contract binding you to one person for life.
