The Ponds have been great companions, way more fun than Rose and Martha in my opinion. Donna was a great companion, but RTD unfortunately shiat all over her character at the end for cheap drama.

Robots. Dinosaurs. Death squads. Time Lord hybrids. New York City. And Daleks. Lots and lots of Daleks.

Good Jesus, Amy Pond is sexy. "Who's scared?"

That said, I won't be sad to see the Ponds go. They've had a great run and have been entertaining, and it's time to move on. Hopefully the new girl is just as awesome.

I thought the Doctor was going to play it safe, go alone, on the sly to avoid letting the Silence know (SPOILERS) he's still alive.

If this is low key, I hate to see full on blast.

I find myself reminiscent of a more mature Doctor. Kinda getting tired of Team Emo Smith. Next he'll be singing in a pop boy band on some idol show.

Whats funny is both those episodes show the exact same completely flawed understanding of evolution by the writers.

Amy's biggest character growth came during The God Complex where she had to be convinced to give up her faith in the Doctor. In the meantime, Rory's gone from insecure tag-along to confident companion, with a few deaths and a few thousand years of offscreen adventures to boot. He is a Knight-Errant and a great character.

Going off of the trailer, I'm going to assume he tried that, and failed. Amy shouting something about why he needs companions to keep him out of trouble.

The Doctor seems to need people around him to hold him back. Let's look at the start of season six where he apparently banged some princess or queen and had to break out of a Nazi prison camp. Or the 10th Doctor and his attempt at Time Lord Victorious. In the Eighth Doctor audio adventures, he tells Susan (yes, he reunited with his grand daughter) that he's a danger by himself and feared that alone he might do something really wrong (the audio play was titled "To the Death..."). So, I'm going to figure that he tried the solo quiet thing and made a few errors.

Tennant was the emo Doctor, Smith is great. To be fair, all three Doctors since the revival have been terrific, just shaded slightly differently. I agree with those above who are going to miss the Ponds terribly

Depends on if you want to do it legally or not. Personally, I always find a way to watch the show a few hours after it's aired across the pond.

You would not like BBC America's broadcast of it anyway. Horrible, utterly horrible. BBCA is old-timey standard def, the episodes are trimmed a bit, commercial breaks are cut in at clumsy moments, and then there's that infamous Amy monologue which wouldn't be so bad if it were placed before the cold open instead of between the exciting or suspenseful end of the cold open and the thunderous opening credits thereby throwing off the pacing terribly.

A giant ladling of this! That Amy open drives me crazy. Like 'Murikens are so dense we have to have high-brow British drama spoon fed to us.

I don't like commercials, don't want to watch in standard definition, would rather not illegally download, and am too lazy to figure out a UK proxy, so I purchase and download them from Amazon Instant Video. They are usually on my Tivo when I wake up on Sunday morning.

This. Occasionally while channel-surfing I'd pause on BBC America to watch a rerun of Doctor Who, but I usually leave after a while because some crappy edit they've done has pissed me off.

I remember that BBC America ran "The Eleventh Hour" in it's entirety without edits the first time it was shown, but they've since sliced and diced it like everything else.

Pepperjack: A giant ladling of this! That Amy open drives me crazy. Like 'Murikens are so dense we have to have high-brow British drama spoon fed to us.

I don't really have a problem with the monologue itself. It's not meant for us (the existing fans). It's made for the vast potential market of Americans who are not familiar enough with the show and whom the Beeb and Moffat want to turn into fans. Besides, that sort of summary isn't unique to Doctor Who. Sherwood Schwartz had such things set to music for the opening credits of Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. Quantum Leap had the monologue. Shatner and Stewart recited "These are the voyages..." for both of their Star Trek series. BSG did it in text instead of vocalised. More recent British shows like Life on Mars and its sequel Ashes to Ashes had their respective protagonists explain what was going on at the start of the opening credits.

The timing is what bothers me. Put it before the cold open. If a neophyte viewer needs to know what's going on, then the explanation should be before the cold open. In its current position, not only is it useless, but it farks up the rhythm. The cold open ends on a suspenseful or action-packed moment (Rory adhering to the rule that cool guys don't look at explosions, Vincent van Gogh running away from a space griffin or whatever that was, Mels hijaking the TARDIS at gunpoint, whatever), then gentle music plays while Amy tells of her imaginary friend, then [bam], the rousing orchestration of the the theme song plays as the TARDIS is hurled through the time vortex.

I had an accident, and I woke up in 2007.
Am I mad, in a coma, back in time, or the Prime Minister?
Whatever's happened, it's like I've landed on a different planet.
Now, maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home to Gallifrey.

I've been watching on Netflix and Amazon. Netflix has the monologue after the cold open too. I don't remember if Amazon does.

Probably because that picture was likely taken while she was on ER years ago. She's in her 50's now, but she's still pretty sexy for being that age.
