So you've seen Iron Man 3? Can I borrow your Tardis when your done?

Watched Thor on Netflix the other day when I was babysitting my nephew. Good God, that shiat was unwatchable. I blame the Borne Identity for starting the trend of 5,000 seperate quick cut shots crammed into a 3 minute fight scene. I realize it's intended to be visual junk food, but they've now added yellow Sudafed-cooked-in-a-hotel-coffee-pot crank to the visual Mountain Dew. No doubt this is going to be forever looked back on as the Dark Ages of cinema.

Thor isn't too bad. Just the final battle with the big robot thing is clearly when they ran out of money and time -- it's filmed on an empty back lot left over from a MST3K-quality movie, and all the other characters are wearing rented Renaissance festival costumes.

I do! You were mistaken about Portman's photo on the monitor. It was Portman in a still from Thor with the desert in the background.

When you see it on disk, are you going to swear that wasn't the photo they showed in the theater?

In the Marvel Doctor WHO comics they gave him a name that looks like a mathematic equasion.

bighairyguy: phyrkrakr: the go-to bad guys seem to be British (or Aussie, I guess).

Yes and no. Yes for Ben Kingsley in IM3 and no for Dominic Cooper (Tony Stark's dad) and Jarvis being Brits. Oh, and Thor is an Aussie. Lots of good acting talent in the Commonwealth these days.

I did not realize that Hemsworth was Aussie and Cooper was a Brit. Paul Bettany doesn't count, he's a computer voice. One that I did miss, though, was the girl in Captain America - she's from England.

He has been credited as Doctor Who many times in the original series, and Three had a car with "WHO" licence plate as well as the Whomobile.

/Trivia: The Whomobile was owned by Jon Pertwee personally, not the BBC. When he left he took it with him.

I thought the first Thor was okay but without knowing anything about the comic, I thought the stuff on his home planet of Krypton or Alderaan or wherever could have been played a little more straight. I get the fish-out-of-water stuff on earth but even the scenes on Alderaan were a little too tongue in cheek. If they played that more like a serious Conan flick and left the "by Grabthar's hammer, those are some big tits" humor to when he was on earth, I think it would have worked a little better.

un4gvn666: I seem to remember a scene in Avengers where Jane Foster is mentioned. It's the scene between Thor and Coleson on the S.H.I.E.L.D. air carrier.

Coleson mentions that Foster has been reassigned to some remote location for her to work in safety, away from the upcoming war. They displayed an image of Jane on one of the monitors, and I distinctly remember noticing that it was NOT Natalie Portman. In fact, it looked like this girl:

Claire Forlani.

And yet, IMDB and Wiki have Natalie Portman listed as reprising her role in the next movie. Anyone know something I don't?

/loved the hell outta Thor

NP's picture was used for Jane Foster in THE AVENGERS.

You obviously have unresolved Clarie Forlani issues:

I really wanted him to look up at that moment and shout, "Oh, and that goes for everyone else any of you people might know. Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, et cetera. They're all fine so we don't need to worry about them or think it's strange that they're not here."

Bah! Eleven relies way too much on informed bad-assery rather than actually being bad-assed (and that scene perfectly illustrates this). It's been getting better as they've gone along, but no one sold the fact that The Doctor was actually dangerous like Ten did.

Just ask The Family.

Malekith played by Eccleston? YES PLEASE. Now we just need Amora to show up as one of his sidechicks, perhaps an Executioner cameo...and I'd probably faint with happiness if we had Kurse.

Some 'Splainin' To Do: /So, who wins in a fight? The Doctor or Batman?

Well, obviously The Doctor is no match for The Batman in a physical fight, even with two hearts and a bunch of extra lives.

And Batman has recently demonstrated that you can't just zap him out of time. He just comes back.

So instead of fighting Batman directly, the Doctor jumps in the TARDIS, goes back in time 30 years, and...

...kills Bruce Wayne's parents.
