Cheesehead_Dave: Is it just me, or is anyone else hoping to see a massive bicycle pileup during one of these rowing races?

I'm hoping for a Jaws moment myself.

I agree. When watching paint dry I wish something would capture my attention as well.

It's the second one I've seen today! Although, the first was for Judo on one of the "lesser" NBC networks.

The live thread was very late in appearing this morning as well. I think some people might be asleep.

I submitted one already. Nothing happened to it.

TFers can see it already, we'll see if an admin is on duty.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, "the US Men's Gymnastics Team should hire the same sports psychologist as the US Women's Gymnastics Team." Those women seem impervious to stress. Rock on, ladies!

In all honesty, how many people who would post in the TV thread hasn't heard some spoiler by now? It's next to impossible to avoid them without just cutting yourself off from all communication.

West Coast thread?

Best line from last night: If I were one of those swimmers I'd be pissed if my arm got tangled in that world record line.

It wouldn't be hard with some minimal effort. Just avoid the evening news and browsing any news websites.

The Flying Squirrel. Every athlete needs a good nickname it seems.

As noted in the as-yet-not-green thread, if anyone want to buy me this, I'm fine with it:

Gabby "the flying squirrel". What a nickname. NPR got me with one spoiler in the car this afternoon. I just got myself with another looking for angry nipples on deadspin.

Someone earlier today cracked about giving 1month of TF to someone who gave spoilers in the prime time thread. I can't find the post , but I remember replying to it about NBC spoilers , and I found a post of mine that now says I referenced a deleted post. Seems there may have been some concerns...

There was a comment earlier in the thread about two olympic nip slips posted on deadspin. I've seen the water polo one. Yawn. I was curious about the angry nipple the commenter mentioned. Didn't find it but I now know who wins the all around. :(

And suddenly, unlike last night, the frequency commercials are back.

Yeah, NBC, we see what you're doing.

Going after the pedo/perv market demographic.

Michael Phelps reveals to the BBC who helped inspire him to his 20th Olympic medal: "The President of the United States called me yesterday. It was pretty cool. Someone called me up and asked me to hold as they had the President waiting to speak to me. He told me that everyone is supporting me. It was very special and he said to say hi to my mum!"

'He didn't make that'

What, you couldn't find something that directly relates to Olympic athletes?

"You Olympians, however, know you didn't get here solely on your own power. For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We've already cheered the Olympians, let's also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities."
- Mitt Romney, 2002
