xria: THX 1138: It absolutely amazes me.

People absolutely believe that Obama was born outside the USA, but his parents fraudulently announced the news of his birth in two Hawaii newspapers in the pursuit of making him a natural-born citizen for the sole purpose of ensuring his eligibility to become President one day. Because even on the day of his birth, they knew exactly what his ambitions and character would be, and were able to perfectly predict that forty years later, he would have the intelligence, work ethic, and desire to run for President.

Yet the same brains which believe this theory about Obama see no problem dismissing North Koreans as being gullible fools for buying the story that a double rainbow appeared in the sky when Kim Jong-Il was born.

Well one of the really big "holes" is that they created this conspiracy in the USA in 1961 - before MLK really started going, before "I have a dream" and all that, they somehow managed to project that in the future Obama would have a chance of being elected President just as long as he was natural born. Surely a conspiracy hatched in 1961 would have only started with a white kid, as the idea of a non-white or non-male President would have been ridiculous back then - certainly to hatch a plot around, I imagine a few people had mentioned the idea before that but to actually put effort into grooming a future US president from birth in 1961 and choosing a "mulatto" would be truly bizarre.

When my Albino Columbian Transgendered Atheist Eskimo great grandson becomes President in 2148, we'll see who's got the last laugh. Long term conspiracies work.

2012-08-01 04:07:24 PM

sprawl15: rynthetyn: Not to mention that even if, in 1961, you were going to choose a "mulatto" child to groom for president from birth, you'd certainly make sure that the child was born in the United States. You'd also make sure that the child had a back story that was as American as apple pie, and sending the child off to live in Indonesia doesn't remotely fit with the kind of All American history that you'd want if you were trying to groom a child to become the first black president. You certainly would have made sure not to give him such a foreign sounding name.

That's just what they WANT you to think. Connect the dots.

I'm not crazy enough to come even close to connecting any dots.

I know the Democrats don't go in much for Nixon-style ratfarking, but they really should consider launching a covert disinformation campaign to mess with the Republicans, since the GOP will apparently believe anything.

/Or maybe . . . they already have?

You left out the fact, when Pres. Obama was born he wasn't a full citizen. He was born before the civil rights act was signed. Any vision of him being president wouldn't have mattered much, because his right to not be lynched for walking down the street was a much more important dream of his father and his mother. When the man was born he wasn't afforded the right to vote, let alone be President.

Sgt Otter: Bloody William: I love that the conspiracy theory has gone beyond "he has a fake history" to "his fake history is so perfect it was crafted since his birth to make him a decades-long Manchurian candidate designed to take down the country."

It's like saying "I'm not saying it's aliens, but that's because the Illuminati did such a great job at covering up the aliens."

Look, three years before the Civil Rights Act, a pregnant teenage girl was convinced her half-black son with a bizarre name was going to run for President in the 21st Century, so she engineered a conspiracy that fooled every intelligence agency on the planet, with no training.

Take off your blinders, libdong.

Best part (other than forever): if Stanley Ann Dunham was so dedicated to creating a false narrative that her son was born in Hawaii that she planned it from the point of conception why wouldn't she just stay in Hawaii until she gave birth? Why did she suddenly feel the need, late in her pregnancy, to travel to Africa to give birth while still falsifying records so people still thought she was in Hawaii in this period?

Hell, what women period would travel to Kenya when staying home would give her access to state-of-the-art obstetrical technology and doctors instead of what would likely be second-hand English equipment donated to the colonies at best and a midwife and traditional cultural practices at worse. What would compel a woman to endanger both her own life and that of her child?

Occam would have a field day with this theory.

ongbok: Fluorescent Testicle: ongbok: I just wish the Dems could get about 10 people inside the Republican convention and have them start some birther chant like show your birth certificate. You know within minutes probably half the people at the convention would be repeating the chant. I have a feeling that seeing something like that at the convention live on T.V would drive any sane person that is still on the fence away from the GOP.

You really think we need Dem plants for that? It'll happen on its own.

No, just to get it started. I'm pretty sure the GOP will make sure to tell all attendants to be on their best behavior, and by that no mention of the birth certificate. So without a little push they may not show their colors, but once a few people start it will be live a snowball rolling down hill.

As much as I want that to matter, these people have NO shame.

If he has evidence Obama isn't eligible to be President, he can present his evidence on the house floor and ask for impeachment.

Otherwise, he can STFU.

Lord Dimwit: Not that it's a birther thing, but I was talking with a not-incredibly-close friend the other day and I commented about how people vote for people they want to have a beer with, not the person most qualified or most likely to share their views. She said that's why Obama was having such a hard time, because Muslims can't drink. She wasn't kidding.

This is a woman who has a college degree from a respected school, is super-liberal, and voted for Obama. To her credit, she didn't care that (in her mind) he is Muslim.

So it's not just conservative idiots who think stupid and oft-disproved things about our president, it's...I don't even know.

She is an idiot.

I love the way people think all Muslims believe the same thing and think the same. Just like Christianity, there are several different interpretations of Islam. So what one person may believe that isn't allowed another person may believe is allowed. For example, this guy i used to work with was explaining how there are different interpretations of Islam that people followed. He said he followed a more conservative interpretation that didn't allow drinking or smoking, but others followed less strict interpretations were such things were permitted. And i remember after he was done explaining this, one of the Derpstains that i worked with told him that he was wrong because all Muslims follow the same thing and he didn't know what he was talking about. Imagine that, somebody who's only knowledge of Islam comes from Fox news telling a Muslim that they know nothing about Islam.

Another thing is how can you tell that somebody is Muslim or not unless they tell you or are dressed in traditional Islamic attire? I can tell you right now that most Muslims don't dress in that way and like most people they don't go around announcing their religion to everybody they meet. Your friend probably knows quite a few Muslims and would never know it because they don't act, look or dress in the stereotypical way that most Americans think they do.

No surprise. Obama's time machine was built by the wonder that is socialist, government-funded craftsmanship, while Romney's time machine work was outsourced to a dilapadated factory in Bangladesh to cut costs.

SisterMaryElephant: NowhereMon: Dog whistle fund raising. Bachmann's crazy barrage last month netted her a cool million, now it's King's turn. The silly thing is that they don't really need to do it. King and Bachmann spend as much money defending their safe red districts as most Senators do for state wide contests that are usually much more competitive. It's a weird strategy.

It'$ not($), really($)

They don't need the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, but do you stop when you've got enough to pay bills and buy beer? No. You want more.

A campaign war chest that doesn't get used up can be used to intimidate potential opponents. BUT it can also potentially be used to support other candidates which buys you a lot of influence with people in not-so-safe seats.

So if you're King or Bachmann, piling up cash you won't use will buy you influence with your colleagues who need it. that's going to count for a lot in silencing any moderates who want to save the GOP from The Crazy. The Crazy has all the money.

You could also set up a charity and roll some of the money into it. In King's case, maybe a charity to assist those depressed by their inability to torture dogs for entertainment. Possibly by shipping the depressed victims to venues in the Third World where they can enjoy their favorite sport. With Rep. King as their tour guide.

That doesn't mean there aren't some other explanations on how they might've announced that by telegram from Kenya."

Sure, there's other explanations:

1. Time travel

2. The Ministry of Magic used charmed telegrams that fly across the ocean and insert themselves into newspapers.

3. A vast left-wing conspiracy.

There are lots of other explanations, Stevie, it's just that none of them are real.
