So riveting of a story. Glad this was given the green light.

Should have just pointed his cell phone at it. After all, the mere presence of a cell phone is meant to bring planes crashing down.

Over reaction, or marginalization? Get ignored long enough and people have a tendency to work out their own solutions. The police department needs a swift kick in the ass for not at least sending an officer out to talk to the farmer and get some information.

Yeah - a guy in the office fires a shotgun at me when I'm crop-dusting it, too. It's quite effective.

From crop-dusting to cop-busting.

The guy who dusts the fields near us would be ready for this, apparently he flew in 'Nam, and seemed to practice his high speed maneuvers as best as he could in his yellow bi-plane. Put on quite a show, dipping the wingtip into the drought afflicted corn. It was fun to watch until the half hour of coughing, sneezing and runny nose started for all of us, and there was no wind out that night! Oh well, bad stuff...

Must not have known how to reach the person that hired the duster.

In most circumstances I understand the "without the tail number we can't do anything" attitude. But with crop-dusting? Really? The plane flies back and forth, over and over your neighbor's field. It doesn't take much police work to locate, let alone determine the identity of the perpetrator.

Also, if he was really only 30' above the guy's barn, he should've shot him right out of the air. You just don't do that sort of crap, screwing around with the livelihood of others.

Was the duster dusting his own crops? Why wouldn't he know who was doing it?

Was it his neighbors fields? Call your neighbor with the goddamn telephone and have him tell the duster to pull up sooner because it's Farking with the cattle..

Why would you be 30 ft in the air at the end of the field? You're pulling up at the end of the field.

Used to jump at a DZ up in the GA mountains. The aerial photo they had on the wall of the hangar (showing the DZ, surrounding area, landmarks and alternates) had this big red square with a skull and crossbones on it.

Turns out somebody had gone through the roof of a chickenhouse on that property, causing all of the chickens inside to have a heart attack en masse. After that, they said, the owner would sit there on days the DZ was active, with a 10 ga. goose gun.

Would have been easier to shoot the neighbor.

One well placed rock in the prop at 30 feet isn't too difficult.

Farmer claims to have fired the shotgun into the ground. Unless the crop-duster saw the shotgun pointed at him why was this man arrested?

Kids today and all their fancy guns. A set of barrage balloons would do just as well.

That's a 12 gauge. Aa-12. 8 round box mag or 20 round drum mag. Load it with HE-12 frag rounds and blow the plane out of the sky (especially since 30 feet above ground level is an invasion of personal airspace.)

If only their qas a book perhaps we could call it the F.A.R.s that could answer this question if he was to low. No people or buildings you can take right down to the ground if you choose
Cropdusters have a lot of latitude, Not really enough info to make a accurate judgement,Police dispatcher needs a reprimand though

Because you have pulled up and are ascending through that altitude? Some of those guys get looooowww. Recent lawsuits about pesticides, or worse herbicides, drifting into other people's fields and property mean that they are practically skimming the crops with their landing gear.
